What We Learned: Phil Parker, Brian Ferentz Press Conference

I think I could get behind that, and I think I will be pretty mad if the job is just handed over to Brian.

There is no way that the Iowa Head Coaching Job is just handed over to anyone. No way ! To be a coach at this level it will have to be earned NOT Given!! If Brian Ferentz ends up taking over for his father at Iowa it will have been earned..

What is sickening is that KF would have been let go at any highly successful football program, or programs where the fan base raises hell if their organization doesn’t at least try. At little ole Iowa he is a perfect fit. The thought of his son carry on this charade is nauseating.

Revelation chapter 3 vrs 15 and 16.

Note; spue means to vomit.

Parker does the best pressers in Iowa football, period. It’s refreshing to hear a guy who knows football inside and out at a high level talk about schemes and players in a totally non-bullshit way. He doesn’t dance around questions, doesn’t say “That’s football,” and he doesn’t pussyfoot around when it comes to talking about players.

You would never hear that remark about Nick Niemann being faster and having a better skill set than his starting senior brother come from Kirk. Never. He’s too PC and I love that kind of talk from Phil. He wasn’t an asshole but at the same time he told it exactly how it is.

I say Parker for the next head coach.
For a guy who says it like it is he needs to tospend more time actually coaching and preparing a D for a bowl game. Have we won one since he's been in charge?

Did anyone remind Brian that Josh Jackson was our feature back vs Wisconsin?
EXACTLY BF has lost his freaking mind we havent moved the ball against Bucky since they switched to a 3-4. BUT at least now we know Brian wasn't at the game by that comment because with a comment like that he clearly shouldnt be a head coach any time soon.

If you think the defense if the problem with the Hawks then there's no helping you and I have to wonder if you watch games or just Google the scores afterwards.

Go look up Iowa's defensive stats under Parker and their rankings against Big Ten schools and come back.

And that's not even including the fact how the defense is instantly hamstrung with Kirk's offense putting them crappy positions.

We talked to Ben Neimann today about Phil Parker saying his brother was faster and more athletic. Ben laughed about it. He said Nick hasn't given him a hard time about it because he knows Ben will pound him. :)

This needs to be the quote on the back of Pinstripe Bowl shirts. I'd actually buy one if it was.

If you will READ my actual comment I was referring to BOWL games under Phil's leadership since he took over for Norm. Let me review for you since you must not watch the Bowl games.

2012 NO BOWL
2013 L 21-14 LSU good game but c'mon we couldn't stop the run to save our lives
2014 L 28-45 Tennessee they rolled up like 500 yds in the 1st half
2015 L 16-45 Stanford the Cardinal turned off the juice early and between bad D and crap special teams this was a national embarrassment
2016 L 3-30 Florida yes our Offense is offensive but really 30 to a crap Florida team

Total 134 points allowed or 33.5 points/bowl game. The only reason that Tennessee and Stanford didn't score more was because of massive subs and calling off the dogs in the 2nd half.

Yes our offense has issues but let's not stick our head in the sand and say he's done a great job in bowl games with a month to prepare.

Bowl games don’t mean anything. Conference games mean something, and Parker’s defense has performed exceptionally well for a long time in conference play and produced a lot of high quality NFL players.

And what will be the criteria to measure if it was earned?? Will it be the Barta thermometer? Will KF just say it should happen. I sure hope whenever KF leaves they actually have a search committee and open hiring process where they talk to multiple candidates, maybe more than 1 or 2.

So do you think he is destined to be a long time coordinator/assistant?

awe, that's fake. That's a black shirt with text across the photo. clearly a bad photoshop. 1+1 = 2 2+2 = 3 I'm just sayin
Hah I spent like 2 minutes creating that, at least appreciate it. I didn't use Photoshop though, if I did 5 min and it would look legit with a nice coed to model it!
