What was wrong? 2005-2007

There were a couple things
1 poor team cohesiveness (no leaders, selfish players)
2 very poor QB play
3 terrible offensive play calling
4 poor use of guys talents
5 flat out paid off officiating going against us twice in 2005

3 &4 explained deeper: We tried to throw a lot of fade stops. We ran a lot of swing passes to (scared to be hit) Grisby and big slow Chandler. These are retarded things to do. We also ran very few slant routes. We didn't run one single "trick" play in 2006. We didn't make good use of all the RB talent in 2005 and 2006. We didn't make good use of Champ Davis' talents. He'd have been great catching and as a 3rd down back. Also that defensive play call @ ISU were we covered there 5 wide set at the end of the game staying in our base 4 - 3 and putting Klink 1 on 1 with the farthest outside WR with no help over top. That is still the dumbest defensive play call I've ever seen. I love Norm but, that play was insane.

I think it was all on the defense, mainly letdowns on the D-line. Norm was blindsided when his entire d-line graduated. Remember Iwebema, Mattison, Kroul and King getting pushed around out there? Awful. It took a few years for Kroul and King to develop. The offense during the stretch was awesome and contrary to your memory, we did run a trick play in 2006, it was the end around pass that Dougie Fresh was going to throw against Texas but when Doug failed to properly execute it, he took a huge loss on the play. The offense was more than adequate to win many games over that stretch, but the defense and special teams really let us down.

Anyone remember the game where the Hawk offense dominated Northwestern? The Glove (Adam Shada) had a sick INT with about 5 and a half to go. The offense moved downfield and ate clock, got into field goal range, Schlicher missed the kick. Then Norm went into the ol' prevent with his little bend but don't break trick and Basanez looked better than Joe Montana. Northwestern scored with ease. Then, they got the onside and scored again with ease. The offense was potent during those seasons, but the defense was just off and it cost us some games. Of course, the Norm Parker apologists club will do everything possible to blame those bad teams on O'Keefe, but go back and watch the tapes. You'll see who the true culprit behind those losses was.

Okeefe, are all your posts on this site going to be dripping with this sort of pro-O'Keefe sarcasm? Just wanted a heads up...:)
