Jerry should remember that Claeys did not get fired because of wins and losses. He got fired because of a scandal where some players were suspended for being at a party that was gang-banging a drunk girl. Then Claeys decided to support the players when they threatened to boycott the bowl game to support the suspended players. Then the details about the party started to get ugly and Claeys started to look like a fool for supporting the boycott.
After all that, it was necessary to send a message that the culture had to change. Not sure if that was what Fleck was talking about, but that's my guess.
