What the Fleck

How big was the old Wisconsin lineman Aaron Gibson?

If he wasn't quite 6'9" 400 lbs I'll bet he was close.
These super huge guys look impressive but they don’t move fast enough to cut it in P5 ball. Nelson and Epenesa would eat this guy for breakfast on the outside. That’s why he’s playing for Fleck and not Saban. I’d actually like to see AJ get a crack at Big Poppa

Jerry may be right. Jerry also needs to get over himself as well. He wasn't all that. Hindsite has proven the good ol boy front was just that...things were pretty shifty behind the scenes.

I guess Jerry Kill was pissed at how when Fleck came in he was constantly talking about hitting the reset button on the 'culture' there and changing it from how Cleays had it He took that personal I guess.. Doesn't every new coach going into a program say and try to do that? There might be more to it then that I would think.... Who knows.

I just like the fact that not all coaches will just say the safe thing. And yes, not everything was as it seemed. :)

Jerry should remember that Claeys did not get fired because of wins and losses. He got fired because of a scandal where some players were suspended for being at a party that was gang-banging a drunk girl. Then Claeys decided to support the players when they threatened to boycott the bowl game to support the suspended players. Then the details about the party started to get ugly and Claeys started to look like a fool for supporting the boycott.

After all that, it was necessary to send a message that the culture had to change. Not sure if that was what Fleck was talking about, but that's my guess.

Yeah I vaguely remember that boycott stuff getting talked about. I bet your right that that was what Fleck was eluding to if not directing saying in regards to 'culture needing to be changed'. I'm not a huge fan of Fleck and I can see how he rubs other coaches the wrong way. It is what it is. Glad it's their drama and not ours

Sounds like Jerry and his wife are friends with Fleck's former wife and kids. We all know what went on there. PJ was nurtured by Kill in their NIU days, first as a grad assistant than as a full time coach. Kill recommended Fleck for the Western Michigan job. The first thing he did as the new head coach was rescind the verbal offers of every incoming recruit weeks before signing day. Many of the people who were on Kill's staff at Minnesota were with Fleck in those Northern Illinois days. Fleck was happy to belong then. Now he has the row the boat Ski-U-Mah schtick and dumped the wife and kids for devil chin and has shat on many of those coaches he once looked up to. I'm sure Kill has plenty of dirt on Fleck in other areas.

Interesting. I certainly wasn't in the loop on any of his family part of it. Didn't know Fleck was divorced. I think I'd seen he had a trophy looking wife currently but no idea how long they'd been together or anything at all really. I could see things like that bubbling up for sure. Those football wifes are a group as well. Easy to see how the dominos could fall

When Bret Bielema was already announced as Barry Alvarez successor and it was obvious Bret wasn't going to retain all the coaches, it caused dissention between the wives. The wives of coaches not to be retained wouldn't sit by the wives of the ones being retained at the team banquet.
