what record would you take?

At the beginning of last year if someone told me Iowa was 11-2 with an orange bowl victory, I would have taken it in a heartbeat. Going into this year, what record would you take? 11-2? 10-3? Or would you only take 13-0?

10-3 and 11-2, with a bowl win would be great...but of course, I'm hoping for the dream season, but if you're only willing to accept 13-0 you're setting yourself up for a very joyless season. What fun is it if the wins only bring you relief and a loss makes the season a failure?
 
11 win season including the bowl. The upside on this team is too great to take anything less before the season plays.

So anything less than 12-1 is unacceptable? There are so many plays that swing a college football game and lots of land mines to navigate. This team could run the table but they could also go 7-5
 
10-3 -anything less than 10 wins will be disappointing but understandable considering all the close games the Hawks play- Would love 13-0 or 12-1 tho(unless that 1 is the final game- that would suck)

i know it's summer but dammit i wish it was football season
 
Whatever record gets Iowa into the Rose Bowl. Seriously, that is all I really want. If a 9-3 record gets them into the Rose Bowl then I would be fine with that.
 
Anything with at least 9 wins would satisfy me. Anything less I would be disappointed. I wil be pumped beyond belief again if we get to 10, 11, 12, or 13 though!!

+1...agree...this type of Iowa talent comes together about once every 9-10 years...it's a perfect storm this year with the 'holes' to fill being somewhat minor, totally offset by the talent returning, coupled with the most favorable home schedule I can remember. All-americans galore...all offensive yardage of note coming back...best DL in the nation....best SS in the nation.

Anything less than double digit regular season wins would be a disappointment for me.
 
I guess a 10-3 with a january bowl win (Outback or Capital One) as a minimum. An early loss to Arizona/PSU, inexplicable loss (NW or someone like that) and a loss to OSU. Beating Arkansas or LSU in the January 1st Florida bowl would be a nice finish. A reasonable outcome would be 11-2 co- or outright Big Ten Championship with a trip to a BCS bowl, preferably the Rose (Let's cheer for Oregon State to knock off both TCU and Boise State in this scenario to keep the Rose from being forced to take a non-AQ school). The desired outcome is 12-0 heading to the national championship.

Replacing the bulk of the offensive line is not minor. This, and of course, any unfortunate injuries can derail this whole season. An offense is only as good as it's offensive line, and there are just too many question marks for me to seriously believe that we are a lead-pipe lock to go double-digit wins.

If the line gels early in the season, and we avoid disaterous injuries, then yes, 10-13 wins is most definately in the realm of possiblity. On the flipside, if the O-line is weak, or we're hit by a rash of injuries, we could just as easily end up with only 6-9 wins.

As much as we Hawk fans hate to admit it, we all know the margin for error is razor thin here at Iowa.

This may be true but don't forget where our head coach's area of expertise is either. I'm fairly confident the line will come together.

That being said, I'm really hoping for a 10+ win season. Anything less than 9 wins would really put a damper on the current momentum of the program.

If there's one area we sorta, kinda re-load, it's the OL. We'll be fine. Injuries, though, will kill us anywhere else.
