What must it feel like to be an Ohio State Fan?

I always wondered what it would feel like to be an Ohio State fan. Winning over 20 games in a row does it ever begin to feel hollow and just expected for them? Or is it stressful always being on top and afraid of that one loss to ruin it.

Personally I have found it to be harder at the Top than I expected. Don't get me wrong I love Winning and being #3 but I feel I should be enjoying it more? Anybody else feel the same?

I am finding it very stressful only because I feel awful for our team the way these idiots are hammering them in the media. On the other hand I'm absolutely giddy and can't wait for the next game. GO HAWKS!

It's been a great ride, but I agree. At this point it's gravy and really want to keep the "I told you so" crowd from having what they so badly want.

Win on Friday Hawks....win.

I like the weekly reminders from Deace to just slow down and enjoy things. It really does start to become stressful and instead of enjoying the games you just want them to get over with so you can get your W and survive another week.

I would guess fans of teams like Ohio State and Alabama just get to a point where they expect to win every game, even if it's not rational, so they don't experience the same kind of stress.

haha the above picture tells it all, spoiled!!!!

I dont care what it feels to be an ohio st fan, they have had great success in recent years and won the natty champ last year, OSU is really the one Big 10 team I dont like, well and Nebby, but that is maybe because of their arrogance, as in Coach Sweater Vest, and Pelini, Earle Bruces and John Cooper seemed arrogant, Bruce especially. There seems to be more infractions at OSU, Mich bball, and Nebby and jailbirds like Lawrence Phillips, Ingonito who are allowed to play, like the OSU Tattoo players.

I have watched many many big games for the hawks end badly especially the 1985 loss at OSU but I didnt cry.

It is interesting you mentioned Earle Bruce. He was at Iowa State from 73 - 78. His W/L record was 4-7, 4-7, 4-7, 8-3, 8-4, 8-4 then he left for Ohio State. I remember many Iowa State fans were glad he left. I think his main problem is he isn't a very nice guy, & he rubbed too many influential alumni the wrong way. The record since he left hasn't been what you would call stellar.

My only stress comes from "ground hog day" superstitions. Having to recreate every week what I wear, what I drink, what I say, where I sit, and whom I'm with watching games, has gotten very tough to carry on...

...because it has been working since the ISU game...I therefore can't fathum to think of the result if I change anything up (Man was my body glad to see the bye week).

I've been wearing the same Hawkeye underwear every day since the first game of the year. Things are getting awfully crusty

It's like winning the lottery, and now I'm paranoid because someone wants to take it all away, or a big chunk of it. They can't take it all away, though.

I feel like the last half of the games this year are like waiting at the doctor's office for test results . All I can think of is this serious , terminal , life threatening??? I know it sounds crazy as I write this but this season has been so exciting , surprising and stressful at the same time !! I just want to prove the judgemental pundits (ESPN is the worst ) wrong and win out all the way to the national championship

For Ohio State it just goes to show how difficult it is to run the table in any league and how immensely difficult it is to repeat. OSU had a vast majority of their overwhelming talent returning from last year's team but could not replicate the chemistry and hunger to play to their potential. Everyone kept waiting for them to 'turn it on' but it never happened. They might have been better served to lose early instead of late to have an edge to play with.

For Iowa this is truly remarkable but equally stressful. I am already beyond satisfied with the season but I am actually worried more about losing because of wanting to prove the naysayers wrong than the mere fact of a loss. If you look at the top 4-6 teams we are unlike any of them in terms of program stature and high level recruiting. Truly remarkable to be in this position when you really take an objective view. It's no wonder they do not want to invite us to the party.

Has there ever been a team like us to make a run at a national championship? And by that I mean a team with very few, even 4 star recruits? Who really came out of nowhere to be where they are. If we win this thing we gotta be one of the most improbable champions in sports history, right?

Yes. I know there's less than a 1% chance but would you not just love to see the improbable happen? Not just because it's Iowa but how on earth would ESPN and the talking heads like Cowherd handle it? It would be unreal. Literally they would not know what to say or do. They expect to kiss the butt of a blue blood and name brand coach. I am not sure there has been a more improbable team for the Nat title since the start of the BCS where the perceived best teams face off? It's fun to dream.

The only stress I feel is that a loss would boot us from the national title picture, but am enjoying every minute of this. And am not "stressed" so much as just hoping the dream doesn't end.

Don't forget to enjoy the ride 37, the Hawks are doing something no Iowa team has ever done. Never been 11-0. Remember, this is a great thing. Don't forget to stop and smell the Roses.. And speaking of roses, if it ends up the Rose Bowl this year, that's still a pretty sweet season.

I'm enjoying the ride immensely and each week I adjust my schedule to watch the games It is a lot of fun to interact with my friends on Facebook, Email and text. Just like KF I don't look beyond the current game. To do so is counter productive. Beat Nebraska and move on to the CCG. After that let the chips fall as they may. Go Hawks.
