What is your 'Play of the Year' ?

I have to go with Tevaun Smiths catch and run against Michigan. It was the Hawks's first posession of the half. The hawks were down 21-7 at the half. After 1 or 2 plays they hit him, he catches a frozen slippery ball with 1 hand, makes 2 guys miss and gets the TD. In spite of all the negativity around Michigan, they did have a decent defense.

This was big also because if put momentum

Did i mention it was cold? 18F with winds over 20 mph.

I think Hitchens' strip and recovery of D.Gardner to preserve the Michigan win was the most important play.

The T. Smith TD may be what allowed the Hitchens play to be so important, so I see where you are coming from.

Honorable mention is the LTP whiff on Kain Coulter, only to get back up and chase him down on 4th down in the Northwestern OT.

Duzey's catch and pull away from the OSU DBacks was up there for me, too.

Hitchens's strip was huge, but Tevaun's catch and run was like 1B. I still remember Lowery's one handed interception against iSu. That was poster material.

On the Weisman run vs Nebby , I love how Scherff threw his man into the cheap seats, then relaxed, turned around, and saw that the ponderous Weisman was still pounding his way to the end zone, and Scherff quickly speeded up and tried to hit someone.

The plays that were tied....CJ vs NW in OT, Tevaun's catch, and Hitchens strip.

I don't know about most important or key to the season but my personal favorite was CJB running the naked bootleg in vs. Nebraska. I was tense that whole game and seeing him with nothing but green in front of him and the crowd dead silent made me very happy.

The catch by CJF on 3rd down with about 2 mins to go in the Michigan game that sealed the win for Iowa. Bootleg by JR and he had the option to run and keep the clock moving or throw for the first down and put the game on ice.

The play was great but what makes it special is the players reaction after the play. You couldnt wipe the smile off CJF's face and it seemed like a relief that the seniors would walk off Kinnick for the last time as winners. Iowa had not won a Senior Day game since 2009.

The crowd really saluted that team as JR took 3 knees and the players soaked it all in.

Nebraska fake punt stop. OK--it wasn't the Play of the Year, but it did prevent hundreds of thousands of Hawkeye fans from having to check themselves into the loony bin.

Probably not the 'Play of the Year' but this was my favorite. The bowling ball:

This may not be the play of the year, but it summarizes this Hawkeye season for me. Got the play stopped at the 9 yard line? I don't think so. Got Weisman tackled at the 5? Guess again. Got him stopped at the 2? Nope. Going to keep driving until we score and win (although he was technically ruled down at the 1/2 yard line).

I would say LTP's OT tackle on Colter to seal the Northwestern game.

Honorable mention (plays not already picked):

Colter's dive out of bounds earlier in that game in which he got hurt

Hillyer's 26 yard TD on 3rd down, late in the 3rd quarter against ISU.

KMM TD on the next play after the blocked punt.

I still think that ruling was bogus. He got in the endzone.
