It's crazy that a class of 6 3 star kids is only good enough for 13th place in the conference. It seems like that should be more of a middle of the pack class.
Rating classes is really an art of oversimplification. Six 3 star kids to them means six average players who won't make an impact and no eye test is involved. In reality, the odds are that at least a couple of these kids will over-perform their ratings and be really good.
I believe I. Moss was offered by Hoiberg and Bruce Pearl. Nuff said.
So does that mean the 12 schools ranked ahead of them has at least 1 4 star? Seems really laxy to rank classes based mostly on the highest rated player in each class.
I've never fully understood how the ratings are figured. I now some services assign a point value so it's possible, for instance, for a 3* kid at Iowa to have 300 points and a 3* at MSU to have 325; that kind of thing.
Regardless, if you look at all 6 kids coming in and assume a normal/typical progression, they should all be very good and productive. I see Fleming being the type that, if he can gain that supreme shooters confidence, can be one of the best around. Williams is a more athletic RDM at the same stage and Moss a more athletic Williams. Hutton could be a monster athlete and Wagner will be more than a solid to plus post player. Dale Jones could be a Glenn Rice type.
I really dig this class.
I think you've got Moss mixed up with Hutton. Coach Francis recently said in an interview that Moss' offense in ready to contribute but his defense may need work. Some reports on Moss have him as having a high ceiling but still in the developmental category. Very athletic but initially more of a defensive contributor for Iowa than offensively. Some question as to his ability to handle the ball initially at the next level. Some believe a redshirt would be good for him considering our depth at his projected position as well as allowing him to get his feet on the ground academically the first year. There is some degree of risk at this point based on the recent academic work that yet needs to be completed.

None of the incoming players will know exactly what is expected from the offensively or defensively until they have been at Iowa for awhile. The players are talented and should pick the system up before conference play begins. It will be interesting to see if Moss redshirts to focus on the acedemics. Iowa has other guys that can play multiple positions coming in.
If Moss does RS (don't think he does unless academics is an issue) then Williams will be the beneficiary of getting minutes at the 2. Or, what would really be interesting is if both Moss and Williams RS'd. But, with Williams designated to play pg, I think he needs minutes in 2015 so he has experience for 2016.
You have to figure Jok and Uhl are more than capable of handling the 2 spot.
He's capable of not making it to Iowa due to grades.
He's capable of going JUCO.
He's capable of being a star for the Hawks.
Who knows what he is capable of yet.
