What if rumors are false??

What if all of the rumors are false?? As fans, what does this do to our thoughts on next year?? We already are not expecting anything great, but i am afraid that this fevered pitch of fans carrying torches and pitch forks makes next year almost a no win situation for the coach and players regardless of how the season goes. So maybe until some sort of official word comes down, perhaps we as fans should hold our collective breath rather than tote the pitch forks and torches.

P.s. Scott Drew??

Not only is it not true and not making sense it will motivate an already motivated coach. This team needed something like this to bring them together. The coach may still not come back, but it will be because of the rumor if anything. Maybe the Iowa newspaper planted the rumor to do this. If coach is back it will be because of an overreaction to a false rumor. I know that Todd is as motivated and hates losing as anyone I have ever seen. All you have to do is watch his Sunday show. He hates every second of every loss. This day March 11 will create motivation every second that Big Lick is working and even when he is not working to make this program better.

If Lick comes back the goal Barta has better be that he makes the NCAA Tourney. If not, I'd want Barta and Lick gone after next season.

Lick was hired to be better than Alford. It's on Lick how this past season went. I'm not going to lower my expectations of a 4th year coach just because he sank the ship to an all time low.

Accepting a few more wins (like 15) for a 4th year coach is unacceptable. If Barta keeps him, it should be Barta's job on the line.

True or false, it doesn't matter now. It's caused mass chaos. Fans have spoken in unison. It would be almost impossible for Barta NOT to make a move at this point.

He had 3 yrs to do something about it and TODAY he breaks out some plans that have been talked about to nausem and they actually looked like a team that could have won up to 5 more games. That is just plain stupid on his part and proved he was what was holding these kids back.
I certainly don't like how messy this looks to have gotten but thats the way it works most times at this level and the sentiment around the program was certainly no secret.

Yes, and Alford was hired to be better than Davis. Instead of progressing each time it was a digression.

Now what's wrong with this picture? To me it's lack of leadership and insight on the administrative level. Part of the problem was Bowlsby when he forced Davis out and hired Alford. But Bolwsby left before the heat was turned up. Barta inherited Alford as a coach but Barta apparently has not done any better to rectify the situation. Makes me think the problem just isn't with the AD's but with the administration in general and yes with the boosters, too.

Lets not forget that is was similar situation with the fan base saying that it was time for Mr. Davis to go just as the fan base is doing now with regards to Lick. So you can say Bowlsby forced the good Dr. out, but it was the fan base that started the bulldozer that pushed Mr. Davis out.

Barta needs to cut his losses now... I was an advocate to bring him back not because I believe in his program but to me the buyout was too much to throw away with nothing in return.

After this blow up and the end of this season there's no way to bring him back and sell anything to fans, current players and potential players.

Think about this,,,, even if comes back and makes the tourney what kind of a taste does he have in his mouth after this entire 3 year experience? He'll end up taking the first train out of here.

So cut your losses and move on..... The key is don't screw this hire up again.

LOL. Not even remotely similar. Check out attendance figures under Davis and Lick.

Davis was pushed out because donors wanted to reach another level and Bowlsby was anxious to make a high profile hire...since he hadn't had that opportunity at that time while at Iowa. It had nothing to do with the general fan base pushing the good Dr. out the door.

Now if my memory serves me right...

It seemed to me that the fan base was split 50/50 on Tom Davis.

Alford was about 70/30. Now it seemed bigger because of all the NON Basketball fans speaking out because of the Pierce deal. Northwesten State put it over the top for basketball fans.

Lickliter is right around 90/10. Based purely off basketball. People don't hate Lickliter, just don't enjoy his product and Iowa basketball in a downward spiral.

Well, it is pretty clear that at least some of them were pure bunk.

Is there anyone in the athletic department who's job you haven't called for at some point?

We all know that there have been posts in past years calling for Ferentz and Parker. O'Keefe seems to be a punching bag for people like yourself. There was a large contingent calling for Alford...and Bowlsby...
