If K State could do it with Snyder, ISU could do it with HF.8-3 Earl had some very solid teams.
Bruce had respectable teams by score in 73 and 74 before falling off in 75 in respectable scores.
He then put together 3 8-3 years. including a win over a very good Mizzou team. Tough losses to Iowa and Colorado teams on the rise...he was close to 10-1. 3 solid losses in 78 (not blow outs) to very good teams.
Donnie Duncan's teams weren't crap teams.
Then the Criner fiasco. When he was let go his team was 5-4.
Johnny Majors....we all like to think of the 5 straight losses his last year, but he had built a reasonably solid program.
It was the Walden era that totally undid them. Had they kept Duncan or Dan, their history may have looked different. I'm not saying good different, but better than what they've been.
A coach like Fry could have made a big difference.
Then there is the question of how many D 1 teams a state can support. Michigan and MSU can't seem to get it together in the same year. Same with Illinois and NW.
I think it would be hard for Iowa, MN and Wisky to all be good at the same time.
Then there are places like IU and Pudue.....who can't get it together...... ND has dropped off as well.
What if Schwarber stayed with linebacking at IU? Would the Cubs have broken the curse? Or what if they keep him?
