What has been the signature moment this fall?

How about this....four signature moments, each time they do the walk swarm to get trophies ....

I would agree. The signature of this team is unity, playing and winning as a team. Even though there are outstanding individual players on this Hawkeye team, and there have been many great plays this season, it is so impressive how they truly care for each other and their coaches, and play as a team. They seem to be having fun as well. This is why I believe the Hawks will play for the Big Ten Championship. They won't settle for less.

For me it was last week. CJB's scramble to his left, he's in pain and limited in his mobility mind you, and somehow throws completely across his body to Vande for 11 when they needed 10 and kept the drive alive and Indiana's potent offense off the field. Just seemed to epitomize how these guys have just been gutting it out. Play after play, not giving up.

Watching CJ pull himself off the turf over and over during the Northwestern game, his face stoic and focused but his eyes betraying a hint of the agony he was enduring. Both inspiring and gut-wrenching to watch. The injury defines the season.

I agree. Great post. CJ's will to win epitomizes how this team operates. They never give up. That could be against ISU in the shadow of their goalposts, or stopping Wisky near the goal line. It could be CJ hobbling around Vs. NW, or diving and bootleggin' it to seal the victory against the Hoosiers.

Their will to win is impressive. So many guys contribute, and CJ is the clear leader from which they draw inspiration. I'm starting to think they can win out.

Final 4th down stop against Wisconsin, completing Iowa's most important win in 6 years.
That was the first time I got really excited about what this team could do.

Signature moments are ones that will be shown years from now that need no explanation. "Koehn's 57" is the only one that clearly qualifies right now, but hopefully something happens to replace it.

King's interception in the end zone to seal the win against Ohio St.

Oh wait ...I thought you said what will be the signature moment of the fall

When Greenwood led the team onto the field.

Defined who we are as a team, program and fan base.

I've got friends that are not Hawk fans who felt the power of that moment. I think in that moment EVERYONE was a Hawk fan!

You know what, this play and stop as you remember the third down tackle kept the runner from getting a first down.

This whole series could be the signature moment (not one play) but a moment.

I am with you on this because going into the season I didnt see the hawks winning up there by 90%.

I'd have to go with the 57 yarder for the win against Pitt, SO FAR. Hopefully the final signature moment happens on a bigger stage in December or January.

In the signature moments of years past, the OP left out 2009 Stanzi to McNutt in East Lansing.

I'm going to go out on a limb and go with the CJ scramble vs. Pitt that set up the field goal. As much as I loved the field goal, in my opinion the drive leading up to it was the thing of beauty. To me it was honestly watching the way the clock ticked down as we marched the field to get into field goal range that eliminated any doubt from my mind that the game was ours. It was also at that point that I realized what we had in CJ and how great his football IQ was.

Chuck Long bootleg....Marv Cook catch to beat osu....Dallas Clark hurling td run....rob Houghton fg to beat michigan.....what is this year's signature moment thus far? Or, what moment gives this group identity?

For now for me...king 88 yd int return vs. Maryland or cjb leaping td before half at Indiana. Koehn pitt dagger of a FG at 3....just can't give him the signature moment for now

In '85 it was Harmon's fumbles & dropped passes in the Rose Bowl.

Good point about the 57 yarder being the only play that will stand the test of time. I disagree about the last part of your post though. I hope the remainder of the games are easy victories where no play stands out too much. :)

I'm not sure it has happened yet but I think it has to be the defense. Every time the offense has screwed the pooch somehow our defense has been there with an incredible play. Probably the goal line fumble against Wisconsin.
