When he was in the game was the only time we looked good before the final 3 minutes.

I know in the spring, Kirk had made mention of using Beathard for a special package if he felt it would give is an advantage.
i thought that may have been the case but we didn't see any of the read type option plays I would have expected like CJ had run in the past, but that wasn't the case.

That's what I thought during the game. At first I thought it was because we had such a poor start but then it became clear KF was just using him to get to Jake.
Didn't work, until those improbable last 3 minutes.

The series after Rudock got back in the game he did throw the ball down field once which is totally uncharacteristic of him. After that nothing until the 4th.

I think we've seen the last of Beathard unless Rudock gets hurt or is in a blowout. I don't think they'll mess with that again. Jake showed that he's a leader and he grew a pair in the 4th q. He has done nothing to deserve being benched. Unlike the kickers and that Parker kid have. Joe Montana didn't have better football attributes then Steve Young either but he held him off till he got hurt. Jake not only has played well but he is the exact fit that Ferentz likes. Now if Jake does falter then bring this up. But what has Jake done to deserve being benched? He's got way better numbers and played a lot better then JVB did and he never got benched. So I think the coaches will scrap the trying to find a way to get Beathard snaps deal. Let Jake be the man he's earned it.

I wish you were right, but he didn't grow a pair. He has the talent to be a decent when not throwing it deep. At the end he was forced to throw intermediate passes and looked great. He has a mental problem and when the clock is not ticking down at the end of the game I'm afraid that he will continue the trend of throwing at or behind the line of scrimmage when there are open recievers downfield.
Until he hits open recievers he hasn't earned anything.

Kirk needs a competent clipboard holder and that job is filled masterfully by Beathard.
Rudock is a perplexing one....
Plays too conservative...but yet doesn't make very many mistakes.
Checks down too fast too often....but doesn't throw picks
Stalls out drives through 3 quarters.....then rallies in the 4th.
What do you do with a guy like that.....pull your hair out?

All types of crap in this thread. One guy saying we didn't see any read option with CJ...when there were at least two runs where it was the read option look and he gave to the back. Just because he didn't keep does not mean that it wasn't read option. And his second pass was a read option fake. And then another guy saying he went deep 3 times...when 2 of his three passes were about 10 yards downfield. I will say though that he looked very good and was a bobbled pass away from a perfect series
