what do we really lose when gatens (and other seniors) leave?

somebody is over looking the other factor that a pg is judged by, and that is TO's
Marble in that 300 minutes more is avg 1.6 TO'S ppg vs Cartwright 2.4 TO's.
for a total of 44 total TO's for Marble to Cartwright's 59 total TO's,

With the exception of the last 3 games, Gatens has been far more steady than spectacular during his career. He passed some pretty big names on the scoring list the other night (Brunner, Nelson and Woolridge), so you can't that away from him.

I don't think we have one player that is going to replace Gatens (scoring, defense, intangibles, etc.), but with a better crop of recruits, the 3 guards coming in should be able to to more than compensate for losing Gatens and Cartwright. Cartwright's injuries and lost confidence (or whatever) has made him much easier to replace.

HawkI is right on as far as the stat sheets go.

We can and should expect Marble, White, Basabe, and McCabe put up bigger numbers. Greg and May should be improved. We're a decent foul shooting team and some of the younger guys have been there and done that at the end of games now which should make for better results next year. We don't need one man to replace Matt, but we need everyone to step up.

The leadership piece is tough to judge. On the floor Matt didn't seem to realize he was the guy until later in the season. I think both Bryce and Mel were trying to be that guy early on and that may have led to some of their earlier issues. I expect Devon will that guy next year but you've got to get it done on the court for others to follow you. He'll be more of a marked man next year.

The great thing about this speculation is we anticipate to play hard, develop, and be a deeper team. It's been way to long since we've been able to think like this.

i started this thread because i cant remember the last yr we graduated (or just plain lost) our leading scorer and looked at next yr like we could very easily be just as good and probably better.
