Without Marion in the lineup it will be EXTREMELY difficult to get 4 in a row!!! Our lineup just took a MAJOR hit!!!! What does it look like now?
125: "Steel"
133: Ramos?
141: Moore?
149: Carew
157: Kerr
165: St. John
174: Lofthouse
184: Gambrall/Lofthouse
197: Ambrose/Lofthouse
Hwt: Raising
Ouch!!!! Now all of the sudden we are looking at 1 finalist and a bunch of mid to lower AA possibilites and honestly I don't know if that's enough to get around Oky State & Cornell.
125 is a sure bet finalist barring a injury a few new names to watch are Steiber(ohio state), Morrison(oky state). Of coarse Precin(northwestern) and Long(isu) could be back at 125 also.
133 if its Ramos I'll be happy to get a AA out of him. Graff(Wisky) should be the early favorite with a bunch of others right behind him and right now I don't know if Ramos can beat them I see a rd of 12 out of him.
141: Will be Loaded next year and Moore will struggle with the size difference. With guys like Oliver(oky state) moving up and Kennedy(Illini) topping the class there is 6 other guys that I would put in front of Moore at 141 another rd. of 12 type guy. If Moore is down at 133 I would think he could contend for a title with Graff but if he's not at 141 who is and if its not him I could easily see a 2-2 type wrestler unless Dwieza is ready but I don't think he is just yet.
149: Carew will be the guy but another Loaded weight class with Caldwell(nc state)& Jenkins(asu) leading the way. I can think of 4 or 5 I would put in front of Carew not counting Caldwell & Jenkins. So I guess I'm thinking he is a AA in that range of 4 to 8.
157: Kerr could suprise some people in a realitively thin weight. He could make a nice run and AA. I honestly don't know who the favorite would be here. I think with a little bit more work he will AA in that 4-8 range!
165: St John is special but WHAT a loaded weight class. Lead by Howe(Wisky) and Bouroughs(nebraska). After those 2 its about 8 deep where you could throw a blanket over them. My gut says St. John is in that group. I got him in that 3-8 range.
174: Lofthouse might be my 2nd favorite wrestler on the team right now. But again it will be extremely hard to make the finals. With Lewness(Cornell) and also Henrich(Virgina) coming back he will have trouble beating either one. Afther those 2 there are about 6-8 that I feel you could pick any one of them to finish 3rd. I have Lofthouse in the range of 3-8.
184: I'll say Gambrall based on "talent" but this weight class belongs to Perry(oky state) and Wright(psu) then throw in Smith(boise) and a few others. Honestly I would be thrilled with a AA out of Gambrall but only time will tell. As of right now I will say he AA's either 7th or 8th.
197: Ambrose is the one I am leaning towards and 197 thinned out quite a bit. So don't be suprised to see him AA. Simaz(cornell) leads the class and honestly there isn't much else here that really jumps out at me. I think Ambrose could AA but not much higher than 4th or 5th.
Hwt: Raising is a ox but has trouble with his confidence. He could make some noise but unless I see something different out of him next year I will be suprised if he is a AA. Not a great standout Heavy but about 8 solid guys with maybe Rey(lehigh) leading the way. I guess Raising is a rd. of 12 type guy to me.
So is that enough to knock oky state who has 3 high potential finalists or Cornell who has 2 themselves. Plus throw in the destraction of having practice at the Field House everyday and possibly losing Schawb to Uni. Its gonna be tough guys!!!!
