What changes next season so we are in the tourney?

Completely different committees, just about everyone has stated Iowa was one of the last 5 out. You are just a liar and looking for any excuse to not follow through with your bet.

you are the liar. no serious contention given. show where they were in the last 5 and given serious consideration. At best it was a tie. #3 NIT ya right. Jerk.

We're a final four team next year with Woody having another year and with a few shooters coming into the line up.

SS, You lost....what's up? Whar's Iowa's mention?

Y! SPORTS

I knew you weren't a person of you word aside from being a jerk.

Please explain to me why you even come here and post?

Iowa was a better team than many teams that made the tourney, but that is they way these things shake out many times. I'm not gonna sit and cry that Iowa didn't make it, as they just didn't finish the close games in conference play.

"does not have a clue" remember who started the thread.

ILHawk, what is your evidence that we were not considered? What evidence do you have to counter a quote from committee chairman Bobinsky saying Iowa was one of those 9 or 10 considered for the last 4 spots? The NIT seeding is not done by the NCAA selection committee, so that argument isn't doing you any favors.

IlHawk is just doing what he does.....troll.

I would be willing to bet double or nothing (loser is off the forum for 2 weeks) that we can poll everyone here (a poll that shows who voted for what to ensure alts are not being used) that the majority here agree with me that Iowa was a bubble team. Heck I would even let the site admin, Jon Miller, decide who is right if you are afraid of the "fanatics" on this forum.

Interested?

Iowa should make it or Fran will be in trouble. I'll discuss seeding after seeing them play a few games.

Team will be more than talented enough to make the tourney through adding new talent and developing freshmen and having a strong senior class. Team is going to be very deep. Bottom line is Iowa has to have a more respectable non conference schedule. Iowa does plays Drake next year rather than UNI. It's possible that ISU won't be as good as they lose a lot (I could be wrong though). Have to win their ACC challenge game and schedule a few more decent teams that have an RPI below 200 and completely stay away from the Coppin States and South Dakotas imo. No reason this team should be playing teams with rpi above 250.

If they schedule accordingly, this team will win enough games to get in.

Oh and ILHawk, if you agree to this bet we both submit this to Jon that way the loser gets properly banned for 2 weeks.

Jon would be fine. Not others. I really don't care about taking time off. We were not a bubble team. We were Nebby and MSU away from really getting consideration as a bubble.

I see no reason why Iowa can't finish top 3 in the B1G next season. My expecations are high.

If you look at the conference schedule this season Iowa has 3 legit losses:
  • At Michigan
  • At OSU
  • At Indiana

We all know the story with the other losses. All were winnable. Iowa is a handful of plays away from finishing top 3 in the B1G.

I think ISU will have a similar season to what Iowa had this year. Making the tourney might be a stretch, but it isn't out of the question. At worst we should still make the NIT. I think ISU stays in the top 100 of the RPI but top 50, not so confident.

I just emailed this to Jon, I would have copied you in but you do not list your email address in your profile.

Jon,

Would you help ILHawk and I settle a bet?

This thread is where we made the bet: http://www.hawkeyenation.com/forum/basketball/56508-ncaa-hopes-3.html

We have both agreed to let you decide: http://www.hawkeyenation.com/forum/...-next-season-so-we-tourney-3.html#post1098094

It is now double or nothing, ban who you think is the loser of this bet for 2 weeks.

Thanks a bunch!

ssckelley

Good luck!

IMO the only changes that really need to be made are we need to play for 40 minutes and finish games off. Regardless of SOS this year if we close out half the games that we blew in the closing minutes we would have been in. While I'd like to see a tougher SOS in nonconference play the fact is if we don't blow those leads then I think we get in regardless of how soft our SOS was. For the record, I don't see us playing such a soft schedule next year and feel that we'll gradually work our way up to a decent non-conference schedules in the future.

This is the dumbest bet ever, personally, I think Iowa losing to MSU took them off the bubble for selection sunday, they were out. Were they on the bubble prior to that? According to some sites they were "next four out" but is that on the bubble? You two need to just let it go and stay out of Vegas because your bets are terrible. That's like betting on "Are pancakes delicious?", well, maybe to most, but not to all so who is right?

Good luck!

The ban isn't needed.

If I lose I still don't think we were a bubble team.

Btw, the best answer from Yahoo:

Team on the verge of making the NCAA tournament. Mostly going to depend how they perform in the conference tourneys. If they lose the first game in the conference tournament, than they are most likely done for the season.

We weren't on the verge......without beating MSU and likely Nebby or Purdue on the road on selection Sunday.

What's missing from your breakdown? How about 1 or 2 players that can break down their defender and get to the basket? Maybe Marble? Maybe Gesell?

Iowa will improve enough to make the tourney. But without a consistent slasher, Iowa will be good but not a force.

You answered your own question. Marble

We will be a force. Come back next season and beg forgiveness when it happens.:p
