What are we going to do at Defensive Tackle?

Not sure I see alot of playmakers there. Bazata will take up space, but everyone else is green. Jaleel wreaked havoc at times, and was really, really good in big games. Lattimore is undersized, how much does he improve? Is Michael Slater still in the mix? We need two guys to emerge...and honestly I hope Matt Nelson is one. I would love to see him add 10 pounds and play DT. He'd be disruptive just holding his own at the line of scrimmage and getting a hand up. Let's face it, if he were to play in the league...it wouldn't be at DE. I think he makes the move...for his future.

We looking like we are going to be undersized in the middle next year.

Not sure that's true anymore, latest roster updates have him up to 295, which means he's had one hell of an offseason.

As for Nelson, I could certainly see it, as he's definitely got the weight already, but my concern would be that he's possibly too tall for an inside position. At 6'8" it might be difficult for him to play with good leverage, but I still think it's a path we should explore for him.

Seriously, Lattimore is up to 295. That's good news. Has anyone heard anything on Slater. I know he dealt with injuries last year...but Parker spoke very highly of him as a freshman.

Looks like Jackson is up to 320
Lattimore at 295

Wow...Alaric Jackson. Do we even need a guard on the side he plays? He looks like he's ready to play now. Holy crap we are going to have some competition on the OL. This is the first time in a very, very long time that one or two injuries on the OL isn't going to cripple us like in years past. We have depth and depth that has played. The Paulsons, Jackson, and a few other guys are waiting their turn and don't appear willing to wait too long.

Lattimore doesn't look like he's carrying much fat either...damn...maybe we are going to be better than I thought up the middle.

When does spring football start? I can't wait to see what these guys weigh. Meyers and Ike are gong to be 315 and Daniels has to be over 300 now. We are going to be very large on the OL and physical. Our DL won't face a better offensive line in any game, save for maybe OSU. That bodes well for development.

I've heard nothing but good things about Jackson since he signed. Can't wait to see him out there bull dozing folks. He makes Lattimore look small and he's like 6'4 290.

It seems to happen at certain position, but not on the OL. So I'm not worried about that.

Normally I wouldn't either because it's pretty easy for a backup to see the field on the oline. But next year there are quite a few hard worker type players that are just good enough to justify kirk not risking the unknown.

New O-line coach = new set of eyes to evaluate unbiasedly. How that shakes out is anybody's guess.
I'm hoping the best 5 get the starts. Sometimes it's just hard to tell until the bullets start flying.

I still have a feeling that AJ plays DT his first 2 years.
