What An Unimpressive Showing......

........coming after a bye week!!! Seriously!

They were able to muster 10 pts after a bye week. Think about that. They started off OK and looking like they came up with a sensible game plan then back to the same ole. That's what the coaches came up with, with two weeks to prepare.

Don't worry, we're laying down the foundation for 2018.....for different excuses.

Next year will be the excuse we need to find a replacement for MVB, and how can we expect to stop any offense with three new LBs???

It was a very unimpressive showing..... and like you said in a previous post - how do you come out of the bye with your 2 best players on D hurt? At the beginning of the game I thought... MAN, Iowa is gonna move the ball all over on these guys. Then there were some bad play calling. Bubble screen on 3rd and long that wasn't gonna go any where. Very disappointing. I do think they are laying some ground work for next year, and it's not like they are getting stomped in these games, they just AREN'T there yet. Next season they return 4/5 OL, QB, 2/3 top wr, both te, 3/4 DL, all our secondary, Punter and Kicker with an easier schedule. If they have this type of result next season, I will become even more increasingly concerned with the program as a whole.

And some of our future recruits are thinking the same thing.....unimpressive

This is what worries me....hopefully we don't see a mass defection of the recruiting class. Not feeling too confident about Waggoner either now. Hope I'm wrong.

I DVR all games and don't typically delete any until after I watch again and the really good games keep until I switch TV carriers. This game I couldn't hit delete fast enough. I don't even think they got to a commercial after the game.

Think about that though. I was this morning. Think of how difficult it could be to recruit a QB that knows they aren't going to throw a lot and when they audible, it will be to a run play. If they know it's going to be boring, they aren't going to want to come here. Iowa's would have to win consistently (10+ wins) & go to kick azz bowls before any highly rated QB thinks about coming to Iowa.

I would think you almost have to be more open to throwing more just to sell to recruits.

It works for some people, not for others.

I'm worried to death about recruiting as well. I sure hope we don't lose some of those talented playmakers and drop from 13th to 14th in the conference.

You're never going to get a top notch qb to come here because who the hell is he going to throw to? Good players want to go play with other good players where they have a chance to win, and play an exciting brand of football. Our coach is about as exciting as a stick in the mud, and it is reflected in the players demeanor. The Iowa brand is viewed as boring, stale, archaic, outdated. You name it. This is not a place where talented skill players want to play. It never will be until the Ferentz name is out of Iowa City for good.

Yep. I don't know how they can buck that trend at this point.

Did anyone notice besides me when Stanley lifts up the cover of his play band on his arm it has like maybe three plays and this one.Fire Explosion-preview.jpg
