What a brutal B1G schedule

I'm somehow just now noticing Iowa's Big Ten schedule.

Michigan State
@Purdue
Nebraska
@Michigan State
Michigan
@Rutgers
Purdue
@Maryland
NW
Penn State
@Illinois
@Indiana
MN
@Penn State
Wisconsin
@Ohio State
Indiana
@Michigan

That's 2 games against Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana, and Michigan...probably 4 of the best 6 teams in the Big Ten (Iowa and Maryland being the others). I think the only "gimmie" games are the home games against Nebraska, Penn state and Minnesota. The rest are probably toss-ups? Ouch.

What would be considered an expected win total for Iowa in these 18 games? Right now I'm thinking 10 wins would be good, 12 wins would be great.

Brutal

Glass half full.

It might be better getting Mich State early both games before they get in a groove, along with a couple of the other contenders. Just sayin'. Might not be a bad thing. Have to play them anyway so might as well get the tougher run of games early. Also, come tournament time, might look better if Iowa looks to be on a roll with wins.

The overall schedules for all the teams based on media predictions say Iowa has a little tougher than average schedule. The toughest go to Wis., Penn St, then
Ohio State, Mich. then Iowa, Md, Pur, and Neb. then Rutgers, Minn, Ill, and the easiest schedules to Indiana,Northwestern and MSU. Not as unbalanced as some
years. just got to beat who's on your schedule one game at a time.

I still think we go 12-6...either 8-1 at home and 4-5 on the road or 9-0 and 3-6. I can't see anyone other than possibly Purdue beating us in Carver...assuming we stay healthy. This group proved at Iowa State that they can play with anyone on the road...nice thing about 4 seniors that have played a lot. I'm not predicting 15-3 but 9-0 and 6-3 isn't a far fetched ceiling IMO...assuming we stay healthy. Our starters aren't likely to regress and our bench should get much better as the year progresses. But this is still the Big 10 and road losses are a given IMO.

I'm just not sure how Iowa will stack against bigger teams. Costello and Schilling kind of had their way on the inside against Iowa, and Purdue's 2 big men are in a class above the rest. Guess we'll find out in 2 days

I think we learned how valuable Adam Woodbury is except for the wildly ignorant Woodbury bashers. We'll do just fine against bigger teams as long as we shoot at least average. We have smart athletic bigs to complement Woodbury and he's a smart excellent defender and team leader.

You can't win'em all if you don't win the 1st on (in the words of my father-in-law), wise man he is...;), and the streak will continue tonight....

We have the easiest schedule in the Big 10. We're the only ones that don't even have to play the best team once.
