What 5 Games Should Pryor et al, Be Excluded From?

For impact they should be excluded from their five within division games in my opinion. If they were excluded from the first five games, Michigan State would have the advantage of playing tOSU without Pryor et al. Every other conference opponent would not have that benefit. It would seem fairer for the conference to stipulate which games they are excluded from.

They should be suspended from 0 games. Cam Newton gets $180,000 to play at Auburn, and no suspension. These kids sell some of their own property to send money home to their families, and they get suspended 5 games. The NCAA needs their collective head examined.

To answer your question, he should be suspended for their bowl game this year, and his first 4 games in the NFL next season. ;)

I doubt he sticks around another year if he has to sit out his first 5 games.

Anyone who doesn't think the NCAA's decisions are based on money need to look no further than this situation.

First, there is a double standard with respect to Cam Newton (which in my opinion is a more egregious act).

Second, why would the suspension not be effective immedately (i.e. for the bowl game)?

I think the suspension is stupid. Who cares if they sell their own items for cash. I realize there are rules, but they are stupid too. The NCAA is stupid! It's not like they were selling drugs or themselves?

Perhaps OSU should say we will suspend them for the bowl game and see what the NCAA says???

To have them eligible to play a game, BCS or not, and then have them sit the next 5 the following season is absolutely stupid IMO. If they're going to bounce around and skip a game why not have them suspended every other game, all road games, or better yet based alphabetically based on their opponents. The games against Akron, Toledo, Miami, Colorado, & MSU will have a much greater impact then an irrelevant BCS game. I'm sure they learned there lesson.

This isn't a stupid rule. Say the players want to sell their jerseys, rings, etc. And then say that "collectors" *cough* boosters *cough* want to spend thousands of dollars on stuff that the players get for free. See the potential there?

Now, to the poster talking about Newton: 1. the $180,000 was the price to play for MSU, not Auburn. 2. There is no evidence that the Newtons actually accepted any money. His father was considered guilty of shopping him around (which is still a violation of his amateur status, whether he knew or not), and that's all. More may come out later, but at this point, Cam Newton has not been paid a cent.

He should have been suspended, as the NCAA said that he violated his amateur status, and ruled him ineligible (only to reinstate him at the first breath of an appeal the next day). Just get the facts right, please.
