We're in elite company

And so? Scott Frost couldn't replicate KF's success under the exact same parameters. He had all the resources in the world and fell flat. Same with Riley before him. Row row row your boat is still stuck in mediocreville. Brohm bailed. Fitz has had intermittent success at best and seems stuck in the shit of late. Illinois has a pulse with Bert, but has been largely irrelevant for a generation.

Wisky and Iowa have had consistent success in the West. That is it.

If it were easy, more coaches could do it. Give KF credit. Whatever the advantages he has been handed by being in the crappy West, he has succeeded where many others failed. He is about to get his third West title. :) Maybe he breaks the streak in the West's last year in existence? :):)
It will be interesting to see what happens to the West teams when divisions are removed. Will they all (minus NW & NE) be lumped in the middle 1/3 of standings year after year?

They rarely play Michigan and ohio st. That’s the point. And play in the incredibly weak west. So from the weak non conference to a weak b10 west, he’s able to live off the system the b10 has negotiated with the bowl alignments
You may have a valid criticism of the non-conference schedule, but the conference schedule is not something the coach or AD have any control over; it's set by the Big 10 front office. And did you happen to notice that last year we played both Michigan and Ohio St.? And did you also notice that we went 4-2 in conference games last year.... with an anemic offense?

Good point on the conference schedule. And I don't have a problem with our out of conference schedule, given that we have to play Iowa State every year. It is a Power 5 opponent, whether you like playing them or not. That leaves two other OOC opponents and there is no sense in over scheduling and getting beat up before you hit the B1G.

Lol. Nice walk back.

KF has almost no control over the schedule. He is stuck with Iowa State and a 9 game conference schedule, so he might have input on Northern Illinois or North Dakota.

The SEC plays an 8 game schedule and a lot of them play 4 tin cans outside of the conference slate, with one of those tackling dummy schools coming in the middle of the conference slate to give them a breather. I don't hear those coaches taking heat. Winning is winning. The West is weak, but a lot of coaches have failed to win the West where KF has done it twice.
