Well it doesn't look like Rudock was the problem

I am not saying he would play better than cj I am saying if he had those things he would have played better than he did with no rb and weak defense that he had for 2 years. Jake went out and won a game against that weak team Indiana and cj did too. Both had huge games against Indy. By downgrading jake's game against Indy you downgrade cj's also.

2013 was not a weak defense by any stretch. Three NFL LBs on that squad.

We are 5-4 or 6-3 if Rudock is our QB this year. CJ has made a ton of plays when we needed them most that tipped the balance in multiple games. The guys just like him better.

The 2 best teams on Michigan's schedule in Utah and MSU were losses. Jake is going to be playing OSU and a darn good team in a bowl game. Let's see what happens when receivers are not wide open and he gets popped once in the pocket.

Jake would have been a pretty darn qb by Iowa standards if we didn't have a fullback at runningback, a qb coach who loved checking down, a head coach who loved playing safe, and one of the best qb's Iowa has had in a long time on the sidelines. Give me Rudock in '03, '06, '07, and '11 and we would have probably had better records than we did in those years without him.

Minus '03 I would agree. Nathan Chandler was a "4 inch taller version of Rudock.

Swap CJ for Rudock last year and Weisman would have had a great year. I think we would have been 10-2. We have had 3 different RBs run for 200 yards this year and part of that is the big play threat of CJ. Canzeri last year had 4.3 ypc on 90 carries and this year he's at 5.0 ypc. This after replacing two NFL tackles.

Anyone that thinks we would be undefeated with Jake your just fooling yourself.Jake doesn't make the throw at Ia St to get us out of trouble or CJ running and getting down to call time out so we could try a 57 yrd field goal against Pitt.,there's many more examples of CJ's worth. No one really knows how good this offense would be with a healthy CJ but I will take him over a healthy Jake.

Rudock looked pretty lousy the first few games of the season but has played better as of late. He has more talented receivers at Michigan than he had here. He's also being coached by a former NFL QB who took someone thought to be a bust in Alex Smith and made him into a solid NFL QB then coached up Colin Kaepernick into a Super Bowl QB. Look how poorly Kaepernick is doing this year without Harbaugh. How many NFL QB's has Iowa produced during the Ferentz era?

I never thought Jake was a bad QB, just not a really good one. CJ has more upside in my opinion, he can make the guys around him better, Rudock can't. But if you surround Rudock with a lot of talent he's pretty decent.

Ruduck could have had a huge game against Indiana if he were playing for any team. Plus jake could have good games here and there, like against northwestern last year. However, CJB has a skill set miles behind ruduck with tangible and intangibles like leadership and grit. Plays where CJB gains five yards on a scramble would be throw away a for rudock..

Also remember Michigan has jehu chesson as a wide receiver for rudock. Butts and chesson get to a lot of his lolly pop rainbow passes that Martin Manley et al would drop or not get close to.

Well, does all this say anything about our scouting/recruiting?
When you dump a guy in favor of another guy. Dumpee transfers to high profile program, with high profile coach (former QB), and performs quite well. Dumper steps in and matches up fairly well state-wise at times, but clearly gives your team something that the other guy didn't and is clearly captaining a pretty slick ship. It's not like we're "skipping a beat" here with CJB stepping in.

And then when the inevitable AIRBHG hits (granted not as fiercely as in past years), you wind up with nearly 200 yards, three games in a row with 3 different backs.

Add in the seemingly perennial resupplying of the offensive line with what appear to be "the right guys".

Hard to argue that aspect of the KF program.
