The argument that the staff couldn't close had no validity anyway. Iowa targeted two guys last summer and got them to sign in the fall, one being a Top 150 player in Oglesby. For 2012, Meyer has said he is coming to Iowa. The staff has acted quickly on a few kids and have gotten them: Basabe, Cartwright, Oglesby, White and Meyer. It took a little longer than expected to get Hubbard, but he is a Hawk.
If Fran can pull off getting Gibson, that is what we should continue to expect, the staff targets a kid and then they sign in a short period of time.
Having three scholarships open prior to today, rather than 4 or more every year is a positive change.
The fall will look really good for Iowa basketball, expect two or more signings in the fall and even more positive vibes heading into the season.

Agree with sportstalent. Folks floating the "this staff can't close" theory don't understand recruiting. This staff is competing with programs that have been in on kids for 1-2 years vs. 6 months. As Hubbard and other kids have mentioned, relationshps are a huge part of the decision making process and time is key ingredient in that process. We also don't know which kids the staff said "no thanks" to vs. turned us down.
