The "Xers" are the kids of the Baby Boomers. So it's going to take you some time to straighten yourself out? That makes no sense.

I hope we got a good kick off guy. Also the helmet rule is good -- there have been just way too many instances where a helmet comes off.

This will be interesting because now with touchbacks coming out to the 25 any team with a good kicker who can kick a high kickoff that lands between the 5 and 10 yard line will cause more crazy kick returns.

The kickoff team will have a chance to make teams field a high kickoff deep in their own territory with the chance of holding the return well short of the 25 yard line. This could be exciting and actually cause the opposite of many touchbacks. Of course the rocket scientists at the NCAA rules committee probably never thought of it.

Good news is Iowa will be 5 yards closer to that magical 30 yard-line Ferentz supposedly needs to go for it with 2min+timeouts left.

Funny, Yeah the hawks will get the touchback at the 25 and run on first down and gain 4 yards then sit onthe ball. Oh maybe not, maybe the new OC will have KF's blessing to go for it or KF will believe he will call the right plays.

I see that you're still gracing this board with your uber-intelligence..

I definitely like the helmet rule, but I don't know how I feel about the new kickoff rule yet. Guess I'll have to see how it affects some games first.

Totally agree that moving the touchback to the 25 will result in kicking teams attempting to kick high kicks near the goal line. Overall, I bet the number of touchbacks is up a little bit, but not a lot this year.

A baby boomer is a person who was born during the demographic Post-World War II baby boom between the years 1946 and 1964, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Generation X, commonly abbreviated to Gen X, is the generation born after the Western post–World War II baby boom ended.[1] While there is no universally agreed upon time frame,[2] the term generally includes people born from the early 1960s through the early 1980s, usually no later than 1981 or 1982.

My parents were born in 1950 and 1952 respectively, clearly in the baby boomer range. I was born in 1975, clearly in the GenX range.

Clearly you're wrong.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_boomer#cite_note-0

But if punt goes out the back of the endzone or fumbled out the endzone, ball is placed at the 20?

Definition of an angry person: someone who comes upon a thread about minor rule changes in college football and tries turn it into a generational pi$$ing match.

Keep in mind however, that it has been on the table the past two years to eliminate the kickoff altogether. Further, returners will still seek to make the big return when they would be smarter to take the knee.
