I dont get why people do not see that i would rather see games like these where our defense actually has a pulse. We will win games. ISU is a good team. We just got done playing two bowl teams -(last & this year)- in the first two games....... when was the last time that happened?

The last top ten team we faced in non-conference was in 2000 vs Kansas State (#9 in game one) & Nebraska (#1 in game four).

It's not that iowa is 1 win / 1 loss. It's the WAY THEY'VE PERFORMED, particulary the offense. This offensive team is terrible. You should recognize this - if you watch other teams in college football.

The Hawks didn't even make a bowl game in 1992 or 2000, so not sure any of that proves that Iowa will be a good team this year, because they weren't good in the years you just pointed out.

We will be 2-3 going into our bye week, take it to the bank. After next weeks loss I'm glad it won't bother the "true" hawk fans that are giving the new offense some time. I for one expect better than this and unfortunately I think everyone should.

Comparing NC State and Miami-FL with NIU and ISU is just a wee bit starry-eyed for me.

First, the programs aren't comparable.

Second, they hand out bowl bids in 2012 like youth soccer trophies. The bowl system isn't comparable.

Third, to say that a 8-4 or 7-5 record hangs on beating Northwestern says more about Iowa than it does Northwestern. That's not a good thing to say a swing game is Northwestern.

Or Minnesota.

Or ISU.

Now if a swing game is Michigan, Wisconsin, or Ohio State . . . that I could live with.

I do think Iowa State is going to be fairly good. I'm not so sure about NIU but the Iowa State loss won't be so bad a seasons end. Frustrating, because we could have, maybe should have beat them, but not bad.

I'm for letting the season play out before spazzing too much (please don't quote me from right after the game. I was drunk and I don't handle losing to rivals very well)
