Welcome Back Kirk Ferentz

Ferentz has never been a great game manager. He is an old OLine coach, for God's sake.

But Iowa's kids really do get better as they mature in the program; they play hard; and today they never quit.

That is coaching, folks. Sorry, but it just is. He is a very good coach and we are lucky to have him.

Oh come on! When's the last time Iowa was in the top 25? 2010 or 2009?

So, you call time out with 6-7 seconds on the clock. Run the fake...if he can't get to the end zone...get out of bounds with a second or so left. Kick the field goal....no harm no foul. I don't think that would to tip anyone off. That doesn't forgive the poor play calling late in that drive though. Geez, it's a two minute drill...throw the ball.

I have no beef with running the ball on the last 2 plays. We had plenty of time left and we were running the ball down their throat. Good job out of ISU for stufing us twice. After that, running the clock down to 1 and kicking the field goal was smart. Trying to run the kicker in from 30 yards out was not. It's just like the Purdue game last year where we saw some bizarre 4th down attemts. Kirk just doesn't quite get decision making. God bless him for actually trying though.

The fake kick was perfectly set up. If Kittle?(#47 to lazy to look up) makes that block he scores. Was the perfect I have big *** balls and ran the perfect call that I haven't seen in forever if ever from KF. I think that set the tone and helped with the swag second half. Go Hawks!

Exactly that's what I was thinking the whole half... glad we won and don't have to look at that. I love the aggression but I think he's so used to not having it it may take some time to be smart in the aggression!

Kirk proved his point last week with the fake. It showed fans he could be unpredictable. This week it was rather silly. His clock management of that last 50 seconds was terrible. Not taking the three pts. down by seven was stupid. He doesn't need to have this Sally Field moment. We do like him, we just don't always understand him. That being said it was a great 2nd half. Those runs by CJ were electric. Great play calling by Davis. That naked bootleg for the go ahead touchdown said more to me than ten fake field goals. It said we are playing to win!

Maybe the play didn't work, and short view it doesn't matter because the Hawks kicked ISU's tail in the second half, he did buy Koehn time with the edge rushers on future FG attempts this year. Long view.
