Wednesday practice: Rudock/CJB split snaps

I think we want to see what CJB has. He may be a better fit for the offense. We can run and then throw over the top with CJB strong arm. I think this is the perfect game if JR is dinged up. I think both QB's can play at Div I. With that being said, are we at risk of losing one to transfer at the end of the year? If we are, I would at least like to see what both of them have before one walks. By the way, if one transfers, Iowa will still have some depth at QB. We have one QB we are redshirting this year and we have three QB's coming in.

JR ain't gonna transfer for his senior year. Plus, Kirk loves him no matter what. It's Christensen vs. Stanzi all over again.

Watch CJ transfer up the road to UNI so he can play right away and just absolutely tear it up his final 2 seasons. What will Kirk's response be? "That's football. You win some, you lose some. CJ just didn't look sharp in practice, so how were we to know?"

The main reason I want CJ to start is because I think his style gives our running game a better chance to succeed. I like Jake and think we can win with him under center. I just think the threat of CJ's arm keeps defenses more honest.

All of this is based on the idea that CJ won't turn the ball over too much. But Jake has made some horrible decisions at times as well. From my untrained eye, Jake seems like a KOK guy. CJ a GDGD guy.

One thing is for sure. If Jake gets the start, this place will be absolute comedy.

If Rudock is so valuable to KF, why is he rushing him back when he has another QB he has confidence in? I mean, I kinda sorta understand the reluctancy to switch QB’s, but playing a hobbled JR over CJB is just ludicrous.

They did the same thing with Scherff. He was clearly not ready to play the full game against ISU

I am just not that interested in watching an Iowa football team with JR at the helm. I won't be mad or anything, just not that interested. What this means is I will turn the game on here and there while I am doing other stuff just to see what the score is. If it is close at the end, I will watch for the comical result of watching Iowa lose and seeing the meltdown or see if Jake can light it up like he has a tendency to do when the training wheels come off the offense. But I don't need to watch three hours of two yard checkdowns and 3 yard stretch plays.

Even Weisman looked better hitting the holes with CJ at the helm. Hopefully Canzeri is healthy so they can run a real strecth play.

How mad will you guys be if CJB gets no snaps during the game and we win 21-17?

A win is a win, but it'd be nice not to have teams hanging around for that one play or one call by refs that turns the tide. I think CJB gives a better shot of blowing a team out, sadly it goes the other way as well. High risk, high reward.

I understand that Rudock is the man, but I would like to see CJB start, get a little more experience under his belt.....hell, we have an off week next weekend, what the hell does it matter if he starts? I felt a lot more comfortable when he came in and he led the Hawks to a win....jesus, give him the damn ball and see what he can do for 60 minutes....

The media is starting to lineup behind Jake.....are we all blind? Jake was at his best early last year when he was healthy, but our offense stunk vs LSU, and then the first 3.5 games this year.....but it seems like Harty and others are clinging to Jake's performance vs Neb. last year and Michigan. That seems like an eon ago. If KF wanted to diffuse this situation, he would go with CJ and let him fail...then come back to Jake in later in the game to save the day...that is the only scenario where the heat will dissipate.

If CJ "fails" at Purdue, the season is gone. Not a knock on Jake, but if Jake out-performs him against Purdue, CJ won't see the field again.

Personally, I think we might "need" a 2-QB system parts of this season (not necessarily "steady" or "planned" rotation). Kirk/GD have to be willing to put the money in their collective mouth. If Jake starts any game and is tearing it up, let CJ in to tear it up some more and keep his mojo (and vice-versa).

It's called "limiting risk" in Kirk's ultra-conservative football mind.

Hadn't we previously established a qb rotation only works if you have 2 guys of different race? Examples:

White/black (preferred)
Mexican/Asian
Puerto Rican /Jewish

Just so no one thinks I'm racist, these are not the only possible combos - I am very open minded and would be totally fine with something like an albino black guy and a darkly complected white guy.

I think we need to think further, i.e, what the Adams College chapter of Lambda Lambda Lambda said when they sought membership from the national president, UN Jefferson.

Maybe Short Hair/Long Hair will work for us!!!

The Iowa media is a bunch of Kurt-polishing sycophants. Outside of Iowa the college football media guys think he's a complete idiot for sticking with Riddick after what they witnessed on Saturday.

People who follow Iowa football are all mired in the mud watching this team fluctuate and flash from horrible, to plodding to almost average. We've forgotten what good offense looks like wearing black and gold. Now days you have to watch other teams play to see what I mean.
