Wednesday practice: Rudock/CJB split snaps

KF is either playing Purdue (hope so) or he is genuinely considering going with Jake on Saturday....keep them guessing, KF...but go with the hot guy, please. I am getting the feeling that KF probably thinks starting CJ could complicate his life with an ongoing QB issue....hope I am wrong.

May be wrong, but I don't see KF starting Rudock Saturday. If CJB plays well or even if we look better than the 1st three games it's going to be hard to keep CJB off the field. I think they're even considering a two QB system with Kirk's reference to '81.

If Rudock is so valuable to KF, why is he rushing him back when he has another QB he has confidence in? I mean, I kinda sorta understand the reluctancy to switch QB’s, but playing a hobbled JR over CJB is just ludicrous.

IMO the 2 QB system only hurts CJB. I think part of what makes him so good is the risks he takes slinging the ball around. If he's worried that one mistake will put him on the bench for the next series he probably won't be the best CJB he can be

Sadly IMO I think you are wrong. Kirk's guy is JR and when healthy will be starter. If CJ starts I honestly don't think it matters what CJ does on Saturday, I firmly believe that JR is still Kirk's guy.

You think they're even considering a two QB system based on a references to 81? 23 KF already thinks he has a two QB system from the start of the season, you remember those CJ series? That is a KF two QB system. :)

All I know is if CJB doesn't get significant playing time against Purdue that will be a serious WTF moment. IMO, CJB was playing at a higher level than we've seen from Rudock (including all the games last year). The team was also playing better than we've seen all year. Rudock may have been better last year, stats prove that, but CJB appears to have passed him (from the limited sample size in a live games, 10 of 12 and 10+ ypa).

I agree 100%

I get the impression from comments by KF that his guy is JR and when healthy he gets his spot back as starter.

Don't **** this up Kirk. Youre already on thin ice from this fanbase because of the putrid offense we've seen this year when Jake has been in. The only exciting and high quality football your team has played all year is when CJ was in.

Again, don't **** this up.

It's pretty much 2 against 1 at present, (KF + JR) v. CJB. Maybe KF has moved 10% towards CJB but he's still 90% in JR's camp.

It all depends on the "injury" status at game time.

The media is starting to lineup behind Jake.....are we all blind? Jake was at his best early last year when he was healthy, but our offense stunk vs LSU, and then the first 3.5 games this year.....but it seems like Harty and others are clinging to Jake's performance vs Neb. last year and Michigan. That seems like an eon ago. If KF wanted to diffuse this situation, he would go with CJ and let him fail...then come back to Jake in later in the game to save the day...that is the only scenario where the heat will dissipate.

How mad will you guys be if CJB gets no snaps during the game and we win 21-17?

We'll have a win, so that's good. But it'll be like all our other wins the past few years....it'll feel like a loss because we continue to play so conservative, and make so many baffling in game decisions....we know the set up to lose more games when we're favored is on...it's only a matter of time.

KF must play CJB this weekend. Taking a 95% Jake out there when CJB is 100% healthy and was the REASON we won last week...is just mental and another moment of KF giving the finger to anyone who questions him.

I am personally done with KF, even if we win out with CJB or Jake. I am tired of this style of play. Happy for the wins, but the games are just not any fun. 2nd half of Pitt was more entertaining, and for once our defense made a stop when I'm sure we all had this feeling our CB's would continue to give up big plays.

I am just done with these one score games. But i continue to watch cause I support the Hawks....KF just makes it really tedious.

I'm not where you are, but if CJB doesn't play on Saturday and it's another torturous offensive performance, I will be one step closer to where you're at.

The other possibility is JR starts and plays well the whole game and we kill Purdue. What will we have learned.. That Purdue is the worst team in the BIG??

I think we want to see what CJB has. He may be a better fit for the offense. We can run and then throw over the top with CJB strong arm. I think this is the perfect game if JR is dinged up. I think both QB's can play at Div I. With that being said, are we at risk of losing one to transfer at the end of the year? If we are, I would at least like to see what both of them have before one walks. By the way, if one transfers, Iowa will still have some depth at QB. We have one QB we are redshirting this year and we have three QB's coming in.

I am just not that interested in watching an Iowa football team with JR at the helm. I won't be mad or anything, just not that interested. What this means is I will turn the game on here and there while I am doing other stuff just to see what the score is. If it is close at the end, I will watch for the comical result of watching Iowa lose and seeing the meltdown or see if Jake can light it up like he has a tendency to do when the training wheels come off the offense. But I don't need to watch three hours of two yard checkdowns and 3 yard stretch plays.
