Weather on SaturdayThe Positive and Negative

As they always say bad weather is an equalizer and that has to help Purdue in regard to talent. Plus it undoubtedly will hold the crowd down 50000? and make it not so loud when you are cold and wearing gloves

On the positive side I just cant imagine Purdue players wanting to play this game. They really have nothing to play for and I would expect them to be looking for the nearest heater! Of course Iowa has the Championship and History to play for!

I was at the 2013 Michigan game. If we as Hawkeye fans can show up and be loud for that we can sure handle this weather. We will top 60,000 for sure.

I don't see any real positives coming with the weather. Purdue has to make the trip any way and I could see a "level" playing field due to the weather being a motivator. While they don't have a whole lot to play for, they are playing to spoil our season and for pride to put a positive spin on the end of the season and a place to start from for next year. Lets not forget it was just a few short years ago that Purdue was our most hated rival.

One of the best games I've ever been to was during the snowstorm in 91. The snowball fight in the stands was full on war. Now I'm 20+ years older and find myself excited for a repeat.

That game was miserable... but I stayed for the entire thing and it was glorious and worth it in the end. I think Kinnick needs to make a habit of clearing the stands of ice and snow for the crowd, which wasn't the case for that Michigan game. The bleachers were frozen solid and made it twice as bad to take a seat.

Add a ridiculous snowstorm with UofI's ridiculous new "security" measures, and I wouldn't be surprised to see 20,000 empty seats. Hope I'm wrong.

Sounds like ticket sales were around 63,000 last I heard. I think if Iowa only has 50,000 butts in seats on a senior day... well let's just hope that doesn't happen.

Agreed. However, if it did happen, I wouldn't blame the fans. Unlike the University's new "security/safety" measures, choosing to stay home versus driving in dangerous road conditions, actually would increase a fan's "safety." ;);)

Can't help the weather my Hawk friend....if its bad driving then whattya gonna do?
Yes the seniors deserve a good sendoff.
Wont affect the Hawks play though......we kick Purdue up and down the field.

If you do happen to see anyone in the stands from W. Lafayette, seriously, shake their hand. True fans.

I see that the Purdue starting QB is a freshman from Texas. I'm guessing that he will not have much interest playing in these conditions that I will bet he has never faced anything close to before. If things head south for Purdue early I'd suspect they lose all desire to play.

^^^ This. We need to turn their QB in to a snow man early.

They just showed Kinnick Stadium on the Big Ten Morning Report…looks like The Ice Bowl..I still feel a little guilty I'm not going…GO HAWKS!
