Weak Mentally.

Today was a perfect example of how pressure can make this team utterly terrible. I put the blame on Fran. Maybe need a sports psychologist on staff.

What was the pressure they were playing under today and the source? Iowa was in the dance, firmly, playing for seed.

We lost so the team is mentally weak. Seems like this is after every loss. Pretty damn mentally strong in those last 6 games I guess. I think this team is actually very strong mentally, they could have melted down after a tough NW loss, instead the won 6 in a row.

Shot 22% in the 2nd half and allowed 45 points scored.

Played bad, shot bad. It happens, hopefully not in the Tournament game.

Couldn't disagree more. This is a very tough team. Talented at guard? Not sure about that. But tought as nails.

Flush this one and have some fun on Sunday. Next week is a new season

Tournament pressure. I hope I'm wrong but I think it will be close to impossible to win a game in the NCAA. They might have fire after this loss or they will come out the same as today and shoot bricks.

Having fire and making shots are 2 totally different things.

"Mentally weak" is a BS term used by people who don't understand the complexities of matchups.

Sure, I guess we are really an odd team since PS won 4 conference games all year. It was just matchups, even thought we were up by 11, dominating, and then collapsed, and then gave up.

But but but...Penn State played really hard in their 14 conference losses!! That counts, right?

I blame the loss on bad shooting and ball handling , not them being weak of mind.

This team just cant shoot well enough of the time

poor shooting and turning the ball over does not equal being weak mentally. They played like junk. Period.

Well, I guess it can be bad shooting, but you have to have athletes that persevere though that through desire and effort. Point blank, Iowa does not. Top 10 teams generally do not give up a 20 point swing in 7 minutes and Iowa has done that several times this year.

Is it like global warming and size doesn't matter?

Tell the people in Tuvalu that global warming doesn't exist , but I doubt you have ever done research on the subject.

Well we have gone brick city many times this year In pressure situations. Yes we had a run pm the weakest part of our schedule.

Iowa won a bunch of games while on the bubble. That's more pressure than a stupid conference tournament game.

I think everyone knows we aren't a top 10 team.

No one brings up mental toughness on the coaching staff. That technical foul is just as infuriating as the careless turnovers that were being made on the floor. In fact it is worse. Free throws, the ball back for Penn State, and in this case allows Newbill to find some rhythm in a game where he was otherwise struggling. Sure the refs missed the call on the goal tend, but have the composure and "mental toughness" to not lash out lilke a child on the sideline with what ever profanity was used to earn the T. What an example to set for the team.

Thats on the official too. You do not compound your own mistake by giving a T. They were awful all day both ways. Bo Ryan called an offficial a mother ****** to his face at Minnesota a few nights ago, nothing. You absolutely do not give a technical foul there as an official.

"compexities of matchups" is a BS term used by people who don't understand lack of energy and/or missing bunnies and wide-open shots.

I don't like the lack of effort argument and it feels so lazy. First of all, Iowa already struggled with Penn State among other bad teams, there is no reason for any of those players to think they can cost and win. On top of that, upsets always happen in sports. At some point teams would realize that they have to try to win against lesser teams. So basically, either teams are really dumb our there are other factors that contribute to lesser teams pulling off a upset.
