We were lucky to catch MSU and Purdue early

if those 4 games were back loaded on the BIG schedule, 4 losses for Iowa instead of 4 wins. That neither of them got past the first round is of no consequence, neither of them would have been embarrassed the Iowa was today.

Iowa could have beat them late too. One of the MSU guys was injured for 1 game, but Iowa still beat them after he came back in the second game. All the other players were the same that I know of. Did Purdont have anyone injured? Iowa could have won.

I think we're mostly lucky that the Big 10 wasn't that good. MSU and Purdue would have both lost to Nova by 10+ today. They're easily the best team Iowa has played all season.

You don't think they were embarrassed losing to a 15 seed and giving a game away to a 13 seed?

And IF Iowa shoots in February and March the way they did in Dec/Jan. We win the B1G and probably go to the Elite 8. Ifs play both ways.

Show me the 4 wins iowa had late that you would replace them with. We were playing good early so we would have beat Penn State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Indiana early, then lost to MSU and Purdue twice late. Same record. If you want you can move Indiana up to early too since they were sucking early too.

Villanova played out of their minds today. If you think they're the best team we've played all year, you must not have watched them play too many times. That's just like saying Davidson sucked last year.

I also agree with this, but that is far less shocking.

Now, I will say the Villanova team we played today is better than the best MSU or Purdue or Indiana of this year.

I'm not sure even Iowa's best could have matched Villanovas best, although I think it's a single digit game.

Villanova is a top 5-6 team that played it's best game of the year by far. They win today no matter who they play.

Honestly, comparing the strength of the B1G to how it faired in a one-and-done anything-can-happen tourney is silly.

I think it was B12 < B1G/BEast < rest of country this year.

But back on point, agree with OP. We caught both MSU and Boilers napping a bit the first game for sure and to some extent the 2nd. Once those four wins occurred, the rest of the league starting paying attention.

They schemed us and we never countered. So, I blame it much more on the staff than players.

MSU maybe.....Purdue's backcourt makes Iowa's look like Golden St. Purdue was a favorable match up the way Michigan was.

You might as well wear a sign that says " I have no freaking clue about basketball!"
I hope that helps you.
