We tried to raise her right!

When our daughter was young she would delight in pretending to be a Hawkeye cheerleader. Then something terrible happened! She went off to college, got married, moved to Minnesota and over the next decade became completely brainwashed to the extent that she has become a gopher fan. She still loves her Hawkeye fan father however, and invited me to the Iowa-Minn game. Our seats were 6 rows behind the Minn bench. The first 4 rows were occupied by recruits. I was surprised at the lack of emotion or enthusiasm demonstrated by these recruits during the game with one glaring exception. When Iowa scored a touchdown on the trick play two Minn recruits two rows in front of us actually gave each other high fives! While laughing at what I had just seen, I pointed this out to my daughter. She pretended to not hear me. I love my daughter! Natalie Hawkeye cheerleader.JPG Minnesota game.PNG

Lack of enthusiasm would be how I would describe most of the Minnesota "fans" at the game. But give them a bucket of donuts and they go nuts - must be all of that sugar.

Very cool and I concur thank you for your service to the country. You should be very proud...I would however be apprehensive to introducing my daughter to some of the people on this board. :)
I'm very proud of my avitar.:) She is now a college freshman. Her goal is to work at the Stead Children's Hospital someday. My apprehension, however, isn't limited to this board. When she visited a freshman walk-on back in July (with her cousin who dates the walk-on) she ended up hanging out with Henry Geil and Daviyon Nixon-and rode with them on their scooters:)

Cool story. Beautiful young lady. Looks and sounds like you two have a terrific relationship.

I wonder how many of those recruits are also being recruited by Iowa or have visits set up at Iowa if they haven't visited already. Bodes well for Iowa.

My nephew has accomplished the impossible. He's a Badger fan attending Iowa State.o_O:confused:
here is your Christmas gift for him in 2018

Your daughter better get used to a lot of disappointment and apathy, both of which are Gofer hallmarks. Hey, at least TCF has Walleye fingers and DQ!

I'll give gopher fans some credit, you don't hear them talking about their national championships in the 1930s and the 1940s like they happened yesterday. I know damn well that Nebraska fans in 2050 will be talking like 1997 just happened. The memories will be passed from one delusional generation to next.
