We should "respectfully decline"...

This is right but I would force the B1G to make that call. I really hope Barta doesnt give in to what IU wants.

Since there hasnt been a makeup announced yet I dont see a compromise coming. I think Friday afternoon the ball will be in Delany's court.

Agree completely.

The game won't be played in cha. That is a pipe dream, how would you feel if you were a mich fan who lost there, and now iowa gets an extra home game?

How would you feel if this happened to ISU in Waco? Cuban offers up the Mavs arena to play in the next night and ISU is game for that. Baylor declines and wants ISU to make another trip back down and more than likely make it a 4 game in 8 day stretch.

There would be a mile long peitition with Clone fan signatures on it to have the game in Hilton or leave the Big 12 if it didnt happen.

Iowa wanted to play tonight, Indiana didnt. Michigan fans couldnt get all butthurt about that. I would agree with you completely if Iowa had just left town without even thinking about playing in Indianapolis tonight, but they didnt.

IU really should pay the piper for making a dumb call like that. The season for both teams could have been kept on schedule. Good grief.

I can live with whatever the B1G decides...even if I don't like it. There's no way I want to allow Indiana to dictate the terms.

Frankly, I don't give a rat's a$$ what Michigan or anyone else thinks.

It would be one thing if the game was postponed because of an act of God. It's another thing entirely when the home team can't even keep up proper maintenance on their own building. And it's another thing after that when a completely viable and reasonable alternative was put forth by a neutral party that Indiana squashed pretty quickly.

If I'm Delaney, I tell Indiana that they botched this thing from the get-go. First, they postponed too early. By 5:00pm, the engineers had determined the problem and said nothing else was an issue. They could have had the game that night, but just roped off the corners. Second, they could have played it tonight in Bloomington. This is obvious by the fact that they are going to play the women's game tonight, but they squashed that. Third, they could have played tonight in Indy at the Pacer's arena....and once again, Indiana squashed that.

By acting the way they did and not being willing to compromise on a Wednesday date with either limited fans in Assembly or moving the game to Banker's Life Arena, it forced Iowa to travel back to Iowa City in order to keep their regular game schedule. Now they want to muck with our remaining schedule and possibly cause us to lose our shot at a regular season title.....all the while they sit in 10th place and virtually out of the NCAA Tourney discussion.

So yeah, forgive me if I think they can't be trusted with making the proper decision and since CHA is pretty free, they can come to our place.

Imagine if you were hosting Christmas at your house and you had people coming from out of town. On the morning of your furnace quits working so its to cold to have it there. Then your sister offers to have it across town at her house the next day. How big of a dick do you have to be to decline that offer knowing it means everyone that drove there has to turn around and go home just to drive back next week, just cause you want Christmas at your house?

That dick knew that turning down that offer would screw over his guests and he did it anyway just to make sure he got unconvinced the least amount possible. What a selfish thing to do.

We didn't offer the game at CHA. The Pacers offered to host the game tonight. Iowa accepted that compromise, Indiana did not. So as far as I'm concerned, they can travel to CHA to play the game.

Of course, Crean and the AD are starting to feel the heat from a disappointing season. No way they're going to go to a more neutralish court as the Pacers court would be which would increase their likelihood of losing. Sucks but it's true.

Spot on.

As soon as the head Indiana dude started with the "declined" offer pseudo excuses, all I saw was a bunch of homers clinging to there warm fuzzy home court advantage.

And that home court "advantage" would really help them to win the game, wouldn't it.

Just ask Northwestern.

To be fair, Indiana did beat Michigan and Wisconsin at home.

That's a pretty good analogy except for the Pacers being IU's sister. Bottom line is the game wasn't played last night only because of IU, and the game is not being played tonight only because of IU, so to me they don't deserve to have any say in when or where the game is played.

First off, all of this is probably true.

Secondly, they wouldn't have to postpone the game in Waco because nobody is in the stands there. Heyooooooo.

In all seriousness, I would be extremely annoyed. I get the frustration with it I honestly do. However there are 2 things that are not going to happen: the game to be played in carver or a forfeit.

IMO the first and best option would have been bankers obviously. The second would have been a men's/women's doubleheader today in assembly, if it's safe for the women because nobody sits there just rope off those sections and say too bad so sad.

However I think we're seeing the bad side of TV/season ticket holder problems. These programs exist to make money and any decision will be made with that in mind, and I'm betting iowa gets screwed with 4 games in 4 days. I don't like it either. My dream scenario for how this plays out is iowa/mich splitting the title since Iowa State has wins over both.

Spider, you pretty well nailed it here, especially in the third paragraph...good thoughts!

What difference does that make? Both of those non conference games were played in Hilton. Is this where you clowns tell us you would win the Big Ten?

I am sure it is out there somewhere, but where has it been reported that we offered CHA for this game?

Thanks in advance.

We wouldn't even need to restrict it to CHA. If CHA is unavailable, we'll go to the Mark in Moline if they're available. And if not there ...

But the bottom line is a game was able to be lined up in Indianapolis tonight. Last-place Indiana said "no". And if I thought the problem was REALLY logistics, I might even be sympathetic.

But it is clear that more than anything else, Indiana cares more about keeping their home games then providing an arena that can now guarantee a level of safety.

OK Hoosiers - play now by OUR rules or take a 2-0 forfeit.

Wins over the Big Ten champs makes his team looks good. I'd like the same thing if them and Kansas split and we beat both. Nothing wrong with that.
