Just heard on KCRG that Norm was released Wed. from the hospital and they had to take his leg below the knee.I wish him and his family the best.I had a idea but not sure how to get it done. After every touchdown we always spell I O W A by each section of the stadium,it would be nice if we could spell N O R M after the Def. holds Penn St to a punt.Just a thought.Get well Norm

I'd heard the rumors of amputation on here but hadn't heard it being reported by a news outlet yet so was hoping it wasn't true.

Sure hope he can get through this and get to feeling better.

I think Norm is still involved plenty but I'd bet his duties have been cutback in the past few years and will further this year. We might not know it but I'm sure its happenings

I heard this on KCRG as well. Diabetes is a really tough disease and I'm certainly wishing the best for Norm and his family. A quick recovery is hoped for and football worries are way down the list.

On a personal note, I have a friend with diabetes and she has lost both legs to the disease. The bright side is that she was really sick and weak prior to each amputation and after it was done she felt better and much healthier. Hard to see the silver lining sometimes but hopefully this will all be for the better for Norm.

Here's to you Norm and your family. I hope you can get through, what I'm sure is a traumatic and painful time. Football will always be there -Get Well!

Great idea on the N-O-R-M.

Regardless of what hand is dealt, Norm will always be present....His influence, knowledge, teaching, management, wit, mentorship, and love of the game and the Hawkeyes can never be taken from us.
