Pay attention guys... I'll tell you again....
To make a generic statement like was made by the OP was silly. First, the NCAA allows only so many coaches on a staff and Iowa has reached that limit. Besides, the problem isn't KOK. KOK is just following orders.
Ferentz is the Captain (general). He runs the offense - and the defense -and the special teams. Ferentz is a conservative football coach. Ferentz's football scheme calls for a conservative offense and a strong defense.
Since Ferentz calls for a conservative offense, the QB is not taught to use 'high-level' offenses and schemes at Iowa. Since Ferentz calls for a conservative offense, Iowa's offense doesn't get 'top-notch' recruits with experience.
I'm not sure what you were referring to in your post, OP, but it was obvious Iowa's receivers had a dreadful time getting open against Nebby's secondary. BTW, this a main difference between Iowa's defense in the Ferentz era and Nebby's defense: Nebby has athletes in the secondary.
The one thing Vandy didn't do that I'm scratching my head over: why didn't he loft the ball up more to , for example, McNutt and allow McNutt to outjump the defense?
