We Lost All 3 Phases

The offense, defense and special teams all got out played today, and the coaches got out-coached. Heck, Donahue had one of his worst games ever aside from one long punt.

Just my opinion, but I put way more on the O than the D. Sure, we should have stopped them just once in the fourth quarter, but how can we be so anemic these last two games? 18 against Indy and 17 against NWern? That's really the best we can do?

Two plays of the game for me. The first was the long TD to DJK, that "should" have all but sealed it except for the second, Rick throwing that pick after our D finally stepped up and got the turnover we needed. Sure, the D let us down at the end with another long drive, but all our O had to do was get a frickin' first down for once. That was terrible 3rd down management. And still we suck at the 2 minute drill! Isn't this the same team that rocked at it last year? I don't get it. Just don't get it.

That's all I've got, just my 2 cents.

I've been thinking all day, that even when NW got to within 3, that no matter how gassed our D was, that our offense still had the opportunity to string a few first downs together, chew up the clock, and maybe put more points on the board. Didn't happen. They got 1 first down, and then had to punt. Honestly, that's pretty much what I was afraid was going to happen.

Back to back weeks less than 20 points against supposedly bad defenses.

Outside of 2002, our offense has pretty consistently been mediocre to poor. Thing is, I really believe that this team's offense has the potential to be so much better. We HAVE talent.

If I was a HC, I certainly would be trying to address what is obviously a trend of our offenses usually being in the bottom third of the country. I can only imagine how good we would be if we put a real offense on the field with the defense that we typically have. But KF seems to be happy with status-quo. I just don't get it. Why not try to be the best football team you can possibly be, and work on areas where you have trouble?

Its kinda like the Lick approach to b-ball. Play it close and hope to pull it out in the end. But if you have to horses to run and are able to score, why not? Its not a good gameplan to just focus on outscoring everyone, but I don't get why we go into hiding like this. Would sure take a lot of pressure off our D.

Play it close and hope to pull it out in the end.

I believe it was after the 1-point loss to Wisconsin that someone posted a thread about our record in close games.. I forget what the criteria was to define a "close" game, and I forget what the record, was, but I know that our record under KF in close games was well below .500. It just seems that most of the time, we are NOT winning the close ones.
