We can win this d@mn thing....

Minnesota scares me right now. They are playing uncharacteristically good football. Their passing game still needs a lot of work, and without it they will struggle at some point.

I think Iowa has a higher ceiling than Minnesota and Wisconsin. Hopefully they keep improving. In Kurt we trust (ish) ?

Every team left on our schedule scares me. My trust in Kirk left me for good after the ISU debacle and their is no "ish" involved with that lack of trust.

Let's cut her loose, open it up and let the kids play! If we do, good things will follow.

The Hawks performance in the next two games will tell us what we need to know. 2-0 or 1-1 with signs of offensive improvement (27+ points) in both games. Both Indy and Maryland can and will score and our defense won't be enough if we score less than 21 points.

Hopefully these two weeks of practice are very productive.

I am very nervous for the next 2 games.

I feel really bad for the Hawkeye's. They have the most negative
fans on the planet. I hope none of them read this crap.

It's wide open. Here is how I would handicap it.

Likelihood of winning B1G West ...

Nebraska 30%
Iowa 25%
Wisconsin 25%
Minny 15%
NW 5%
Purdue - try next year
Illinois - BB starts soon

Iowa has a chance to be the most balanced offensive team of all the teams in the west... a chance to be. But as it stands right now, they are balanced in that they are below average in both passing and running with flashes of passing competence and flashes of running ok.

Look, Iowa is NOT a good football team right now because the offense is a tire fire and the LBs are spotty. However, the rest of our side is equally as bad and each team has a glaring weakness. NU has probably the most experienced QB and he seems to be clicking, they have a very good freshman RB who found his stride, but their D is suspect against the pass. UNL's QB is not very good and they play finesse football that is gonna have a hard time winning cold weather games against good defenses. Wisconsin has no QB and their D is a shell of what it was last year. Illinois and Purdue are train wrecks. Minnesota might actually be the best team in the West, but I need to see them play against some decent teams before anointing them and they usually collapse in October and November.

Iowa is decent enough to come out of this thing as the tallest midget. Iowa is also bad enough to finish 2-6. We'll find out a lot about this team on Saturday afternoon.

Great stuff OK4P..bringing the beef.

Just some thoughts: WI and NE have a loss (fact). Iowa does not (fact). Iowa (on Paper) should beat Indiana and Illinois; then, we also have MN, MD, and NW. Let us say that at best, we win 2 of 3. Or, just 1 of 3. So, we go into the NE and WI games with 1 or 2 losses. Let us say that NE and WI don't lose another game prior to facing Iowa at Kinnick in November. Now, it comes down to how Iowa plays against NE and WI. Win them both, we win the west. Win one, we end up first or second in the West. Yes, NW will lose one game down the road. So will MN. Bottom Line: We take care of business with IL and IND, and maybe even get MD or MN on the road, and we are in the hunt into late Nov. Wow, Just WOW. I love the BT West! GO HAWKS!

This is the thing about Iowa... they have a nucleus of players that are absolutely capable of winning the B10 West. They are going to need to figure out how to put it all together in order to do that, but to say it isn't possible at this point is pure stupidity. Iowa hasn't played a complete game of football so far this season. If they can put even 3 good quarters of football together I think they're capable of beating all of the teams on their schedule (because the schedule is that bad). I don't think Iowa's played more than two good quarters in a single game this year. Well the defense has, but the offense certainly hasn't.

It all comes down to how far the offense can take them. The Iowa defense is going to perform well enough to get them there, but if the offense continues to struggle and this ridiculous dual QB system ends up being a train wreck then it just isn't going to happen. However, if the offense can continue to improve the running game and the QBs begin to develop some more chemistry throwing the ball down the field then the Hawks have as good of a chance as anyone to win the West.

Personally, I hope one of the QB's makes that decision easy because I have never been a fan of using two. I'm afraid the inability to decide on one could really impact the season in a negative fashion. They'll struggle to find their rhythm, and the two QB's throw completely different balls which isn't an easy thing for receivers to adjust to on the fly.

Eaaaaaasy now. We are not a good team at all. Can we get better? Sure. Can we do it? Sure. Am I going to have any expectations for us doing it? Absolutely not. Been there done that.

Exactly correct. Based on stretches like the first 56 minutes against Ball State, the first half against Pitt and the first quarter against Purdue, I'm confident in saying that we look like a 2-6 conference team. We are probably about equal to the gaggle of teams not named Purdue and Illinois in our division, meaning we could easily lose to any or all of them.

You see queefer, we can be friends now.

Look, I made some statements in the bye week that implied some degree of hope. I wish to walk those back now. Now that we are less than a week away from playing Indiana and I am having nightmares about Kellen Lewis and James Hardy (not really, I don't dream about football like you losers) I want to remind everyone that "hope," and its cousin "expectations" are the two worst enemies of Iowa fans.

Maybe even bffs! Yeah! Prestige World Wide! Yeah! BoTs and ho's. Yeah! And think of all the activities we will get done! Yeah! Do you wanna go chop things in half in the garage with a sword! Yeah!

and if we lose to Indiana we won't win another game all year.

Typical eb and flow of a college football season.
