It is a new season. The Hawkeye football team has made big changes in an effort to get better. The prospects for the Iowa basketball team have never been better and Fran is striving to make us an NCAA tournament team. It is really is exciting right now to be an Iowa fan.

It is time to make this message board the best board in the country. Only the people who post can make it so. Here are some suggestions (I'm also going to try to improve and follow these rules):

1. Do not criticize players. They are young men. They are doing their best. Coaches? Sure. Players? No.
2. Do not insult other people who post. Keep the personal stuff off the board. If a person posts, some thought and effort probably went into it. Be respectful. I have violated this rule many times. I'm going to quit calling people "morons" and "dopes". I'm a moron when I do those things. It ends today.
3. This board is supposed to be a place to gain information about Iowa sports teams, past and present. If you don't have something intelligent to say or to add to a discussion, don't say it. You are not required to post. It is not a contest.
4. Cut out the sophomoric jokes, Cyclone baiting (I'm a big offender), and attempts to appear intelligent or clever. Do not post threads that are meant to trap people by saying something you don't really mean in all sincerity. It really doesn't add anything to the board.
5. Try to be positive and constructive in your posts. There is enough negativity and defeatism in the world. Don't add to it.

I'm going to do a better job. It is time to improve. Go Hawks. Beat NIU!!!
 
Good luck with all this... the first time JVB throws an INT or Ferentz doesn't use a TO, these guidelines are going out the window.
 
Those are great guidelines. I can see you put alot of thought and effort into creating them. I hope you are sincere about it. Simply put, we just need decency and respect for all fans. I believe we are all here for the same reason: to discuss and experience Hawkeye victories as well as survive the agony of defeat together

Ya an exception will have to be made for "Game Threads". That's the official venting mechanism for Hawkeyenation.
 
I promise to continue to try to keep the peace in game threads, particularly between cibula11 and hawkprdator40. Those two locked horns (violently) in pretty much every game thread last season.
You're on notice, fellas. No moar of that kind of crap.

Yes, I'm serious.
 
I don't have to attempt to appear intelligent or clever, pal. I AM intelligent and clever.

And I shall bash suckclown with the requisite ferocity.

Offering to referee a potential fight between one poster who hasn't posted in over a month and another who seems to have disappeared from the face of HN? Please let us all in on the inside joke. ;)

They'll be back for game threads, I guarantee. Those dudes get...uh, kind of emotional...during games. :eek:
