We are someone else's signature win.

Boy, that was something I couldn't have imagined saying when Lic was our coach.

I am disappointed we lost, but they are a really good and mentally tough team. It's not like that should have been an automatic win, to be sure. They have a 25 game home winning streak for a reason.

But we did have some opportunities, despite Uthoff being manhandled, the foul trouble Woodbury had in the second half and poor free throw shooting. We were also below our norm from three point range, but really good teams can do that to you and if Uthoff was going to be off as much as he was then one would expect the three point shooting to be off as well. Too bad Uhl couldn't have played to the level he has in some other games. He looked good in the first half and then lost confidence in his shot in the second half. They also did a really good job of keeping Jok in check and not letting him get to hot.

A perfect storm of a loss. A good, tough, athletic team vs a very surprising and very good Iowa team with the best resume wins in the country. The moment may have been just a tad high here for Iowa (even with the high success they have had) and with the poor free-throw shooting as of late. An 8-0 start with this schedule would have been super human like.

Iowa showed tonight they are a very good team with the potential to be a top 1 through 3 seed. They played flat (with Iowa's senior players playing pretty poorly) and only lost by 6 points on the road against a top 10 team.

But, they are mortal and can still be beaten by teams who have bigs that don't play passive and are athletic (like Maryland's bigs) (I think Purdue's centers are tough, but can also play pretty passive) and have a good guard play and shooters. And, Iowa still seemingly has a bit of a mental block at the end of halves.

I got irritated every time they said that. They beat one team with a top 50 RPI on their home court and they have arrived. Huh? They are a top 10 team and barely won when we played really bad...really bad. It's the 3rd or 4th time I've watched them and I'm still not impressed.

That is a good way to look at it. I hope we get a 2nd shot at Maryland in the B1G Championship game.
