We All Need To See This From Time To Time

That 2010 DL: Binns, Clayborn, Klug and Ballard. How did we lose so many games?

And Daniels. Needed about 2 more bodies, though. They have correct that problem since then, although I am not sure where the DE depth will come from next year.

I saw someone on twitter speculate that Romeo McKnight could grad-transfer back to Iowa from Illinois State. It would be somewhat unprecedented, but it makes a certain kind of sense. He is still tight with lots of Iowa guys (a handful traveled to watch Illinois St. play during Iowa's early bye), and he left on good terms. Playing time just seemed hard to come by with A. Nelson and AJE ahead of him on the depth chart. McKnight was 1st team all-conference MVC with 12 sacks and 16.5 TFLs.

As many have said the Dline was gassed last third of the year but it was a triad of issues, even 4 issues. I cant remember the right offensive guard who was lost for the season but that became a real weak point that teams attacked, Adam Robinson got the concussion, and the starting middle linebacker Tarpinian who was really good was hurt much of the year and was hurt at the end of the year. The OLIne being weakened and Robinson being hurt made it so the offense was not controlling games and clock time which put more stress on the the Dline playing time. This period was one of the main times when KF's team couldnt close out leads late in games because they couldnt get a first down.

If you remember the 2010 Wisky game, Brett Greenwood made an INT late in the fourth qtr iirc with the hawks leading 27 to 24. The hawks had a chance to run out the clock or get a TD to seal it but they couldnt get a first down but got the FG to go up 30-24 but then we remember the long Wisky drive with the Fake Punt.

And Tarpinian being out hurt the defense making stops as he was a very athletic middle lnbkr who made NOrm's Dee work well.

Much better DLine depth lately.

Adam Gettis was the OL that got hurt. And Clayborn was also playing hurt most of the year. We also lost Tyler Nielsen at LB, Bruce Davis at LB, plus Hampton at RB, Then Brad Rodgers never could get healthy.

2010 was a brutal year, health-wise.

On a continuous loop. Not sure how I missed this before, but I love the nudge by Young on Roberts, "hey, get out of my way, I need to plow into my teammate."

This glorious fail should begin the ISU recruiting video. It perfectly captures clone football over the years.

Not a chance. McCaffery's parents were a pro ball player and a college swimmer who was the daughter of an Olympic track star. The guy is at the pinnacle of genetics for athletic competition.

And his dad, Ed is the new coach at Northern Colorado.

Partially because we never subbed for them they played like 85% or more of the snaps. They were worn out late in games and late in the yr... Not only reason but a part of it anwyay

That was a big issue, but the bigger issue was that we turned over the LBs off the 2009 team. Great LB play sealed us a couple of wins late that flipped in 2010. Clayborn was out there trying to drop into lanes and take away screens and slants like half the obvious passing snaps and at some point I think he might have gone into knee protection mode, so he couldn't focus on murdering the QB like he did in 2009. He still had a good year, but it wasn't as dominant as 2009, through no fault of his own.

Am I the only one here that would be completely satisfied watching a 5 minute highlight of clowns fans falling down the bleachers. Damn it they do it with such grace and beauty.
