Good question, I've been wondering about that myself. You can go either way with that, he may have saw an offense that desperately could use him right away or one that may not get him the ball enough.

There's a huge difference between having an offense that could use talent, and having an offense that does use talent.

It would be nice to have a receiver that actually fights to catch the ball, or at a minimum put his hands up to catch it. I noticed this on the second bomb to J. Smith against Mich St last year and have seen him do this (or not do it) multiple times this year. Unless he is all by himself he seems incapable of making a play.
