Way too early top 25

You know this is way, way too early when they leave the Hawks out. Also says they don't know what they are doing.

I hope there is a special place in hell reserved for people who turn lists into slideshows.
If you're looking on a phone - yeah it sucks, but on a PC with ad-blocker it isn't bad. Gives more room for pictures and blurbs. I don't mind it in this case.

Not really. Iowa isn’t a reload team under ferentz. He has to build up to it over time. Have you just started following?

There's no way I'm going to flip through 25 of those damn things to read somebody's speculation. Of course the page is going to flip up new adds each time too.

Uh, I've been a die hard Hawk fan for a long, long time. I expect us to be a good, tough football team again this fall.

Some thoughts on that:

Do you think Phil Parker can dial up a tough D again? I do. We'll miss AJE but still.

On O there are some questions such as experience at QB, who will punt but the rest of the O is in good shape. We've got 8 months to figure it all out.

We lost a lot of players this last year, hen, the whole starting D line but it all turned out OK. Bring on that tough schedule.

I think Petras will end up breaking some of Stanley’s records. The prep film that I’ve seen of him before coming to Iowa, he showed incredible accuracy with his deep throws. The coaches and players are sold on him too based on what I have read. This will be his third spring ball and should have a pretty good grasp of the playbook. He’s also got plenty of talented skill players around him to help him make an easier transition as a first time starter. They way we are able to reload on the offensive and defensive lines, I think the Hawks are going to be the West Division favorites next year.

Yeah, he's going to have great weapons on the outside out of shoot unlike Stanley did. I mean, he had great TE's, but nothing like Spencer is walking into for weapons and options. My hope is we can fix the running game a little cause that would help tremendously. The thing that made me so impressed with Stanley is he really didn't have much of a running game, the line was always kind of suspect. His first 2 seasons, while some of those guys were on campus and on the team (ISM, Smith, Tracy, Rigaini), they just weren't as polished as they were now. He still put up huge numbers. I expect Petras to step in and be pretty good right out of the gate.

I don't want to jinx anything here for fear of inviting AIRBHG to the party or some sort of City Boyz, Inc. Part Deux issue, but I think Petras is inheriting a team with the best skill position assembly in the Ferentz era. 2009/2010 were up there, but in terms of WR depth, what we've seen out of LaPorta at TE and Goodson at RB, I think this is the best lineup of weapons we've had at Iowa in a long time.

If Petras has arm talent and doesn't make too many silly first year starter mistakes under pressure and the middle of the o-line plays like it did against USC, we have a 10-2 ball club at worst next year (and only 10-2 because of the ridiculous schedule).

If Petras is decent and the line holds up, this is probably a borderline top 8 or top 10 team (though it will be ranked lower due to lack of brand name).

I also think Iowa will be in more shootouts. Both because Petras will make some aggressive mistakes that they have to overcome, and because the D will take a step back after losing the generational talent that is AJE.

Don't bother, the only facts that matter to him are his own.

Apparently you have.

2018. Lost early entries James Daniels and Josh Jackson in addition to the graduating seniors. Improved to 9-4 with an impressive bowl win.

2019. Lost first round early entries TJ Hockensen and Noah Fant, as well as Amani Hooker, in addition to graduating seniors. Improved again to 10-3 and an even more impressive bowl win.

So, yeah, we don't just develop baby, we reload as well!

Also important to remember who other people lost each year. We had a nice team in 2019, but I think a fair number of our better recurring opponents took a step back. Minnesota obviously got better, as did Illinois. But on the other hand Purdue was trash without Blough (plus their injuries) and Northwestern was trash without Thorson. Iowa State also took a major dump by losing that good RB and WR. The record got better, but that was in part because two of the teams we lost to in 2018 really fell off the map in 2019.

haha good one.

The same should be said for the person who 'invented' pop-up on-line ads....and...those webmasters who cajole one into turning off their ad-blocker in order to read content.
