Way too early Robinson/Greene comparison...but noteworthy.

Greene's first two games of 2008:

22 carries for 109 yards and 1 TD. Long of 20
13 carries for 130 yards and 1 TD. Long of 35

Now Robinson's first two games of 2010:
24 carries for 109 yards and 3 TD. Long of 16
14 carries for 156 yards and 1 TD. Long of 75

Greene played Maine and FIU
Robinson played EIU and ISU.

I do not think that Adam is going to give the job up to Hampton...I think he will keep it the whole year and Hampton will stay as his spell back just as he did to Greene. I know it was Hampton's first game back...but Robinson is far ahead of him at this point...in my opinion.

I want to see blitz pick-up by Hampton before I am ready to put him on the same plane as Robinson. Robinson is that unique back in that he is equally capable of blocking a blitzing linebacker as he is running the ball. In the Ferentz era, the only two other backs I can think of that could do this consistently were Albert Young and Greene. There was a reason that back in 2002 we used to put Cervantes in on passing downs.....Freddy couldn't block.

If I remember correctly, I don't think Greene played much more than a half in either of those contests. Nonetheless, great start for Adam. I still think Jewell probably has a better skill set overall, but it's great to have two RB you can count on. Let's hope they both stay healthy this season.

I think the better comparison is with ARob and Fred Russell. Both guys are patient North/South type runners that are compact and get through the line of scrimmage quickly, and can bust some tackles, but both guys lack the final top gear.

That being said, I would suggest that Jewel looks a little like Jermelle Lewis in his running style.

Might be so but still have pretty much the same number of carries. I don't see why A Rob won't make it over 100 yards again this week. If he does and has a nice big touchdown run with some broken tackles I wouldn't be surprised to see him on some Heisman watch lists.
