way too early predict Iowa 2017 win-loss record

How'd you do with your prediction?

I predicted Iowa would be unpredictable. I was right. Who'da thought 8-5 with a bowl win and blow out wins against OSU and Nebby and AND a last second PSU loss and still only win 8 games out of 13 and having 5 games of 250 yards or less AND only 66 against Wisconsin. Who'd a thought Iowa could give up nearly 600 yards to PSU and lose on the last play.

I'd a been a lot more OK if the yardage against OSU was evenly divided against Wisky and the Hawks were 1-1 against them. I'd a been OK if PSU and OSU yardage against Iowa had been equally divided and the games were split.

How can KF be predicted?

I predict that our total points scored collectively against Ohio State and Nebraska will exceed our total yards against Wisconsin by 45......

My prediction at this point would be 7-5. Since Ferentz's 2nd season Iowa has won less than 6 games exactly once, and that's with plenty of schedules as hard as this year's will be. So I find it hard to see 4 or 5 wins like some of the negative nancies on here. The only game I don't see us having any chance in is the Ohio State game with second least likely being at Wisconsin. We typically play well against Penn State at Kinnick and I don't see Nebraska being markedly better. The ISU game is always a toss up, but I still see us winning that game given the talent disparity. The wild card game in my view is Michigan State on the road. They were downright bad this past season, but it's hard to see them being anywhere near that bad again. I would say 10-2 is a realistic ceiling with 6-6 being worst case.

Well, I nailed our record. I was wrong about Ohio State, but right about Wisconsin, ISU, Nebraska, and Michigan State. I was also correct about playing Penn State close at Kinnick. Maybe I should do this for a living.

Iowa will go 2-1 in non-conference, losing to either Wyoming or @ISU

then lose to PSU, @MSU, OSU, @Wisc, @Neb, @NW, Minn

and beat ILL and Purdue.

In a couple months we'll see predictions like this again. These threads have created the legend. I don't know how Kirk does it (actually I do) but every year he has the fans convinced Iowa will be lucky to win 6 games and then when we win 8 it feels like 12 to those with poor logic skills. This year is a good example, a famous site-owner predicted 6 wins. It was genius. The chances Iowa ever wins less than 6 are almost nil considering we schedule 3 patsies in the OOC. So now we have 8 wins and that could only happen with a legend. The tragedy is Iowa had a chance to build on JHFs accomplishments and elevate the program to something special. And it never happened.

Who would probably become a "beloved site-owner" if/when your tired ever gets banished.

Oh, and there were a LOT more folks than just said "famous site-owner" calling for 6 wins.

To be fair, I did get more optimistic as the off-season progressed

After spring practice, I changed my prediction to 5-7

After Butler joined the team, I changed to 6-6

In August, I changed to 7-5.

You can chrck it out, there was a new prediction thread each time.

But in the end, I know this means nothing except that I can be kinda wishy-washy in my predictions.

I surprised to see my prediction. All year long I thought I predicted 6-6. Turns out i was close. Predicting 8-4. Though they did need a bowl game to get that 8th win.
