Yes its dumb. Very dumb. However it also gives a decent barometer of where the national pundits think Iowa sits right now.

Jerry Palm has Iowa as a 2-seed in the midwest. I'd assume being a 2 seed in the midwest over Kansas and Sparty might mean Iowa is the top 2 seed (again..means nothing right now other than he likely thinks Iowa is the #5 overall seed).
