Watching CBB today, realize how much I miss really having a relevant team

Here's hoping that the atmosphere and the wins come back to Carver soon... it is really sad watching all these teams on CBS and ESPN and knowing that we are as irrelevant as can be.

I feel the same way, and it's been like this for most of the last decade of Iowa basketball.

But it feels even worse in March.

Wha Wha Wha.

We know the state our program is in some shambles and it's hard to see the light whether directed by Lickliter or anyone else, but do we need to complain about it aaaalllll the time. Enjoy some good matchups today.

I just miss filling out my Bracket and trying to figure out how far to advance Iowa without being too much of a homer.

It's been a LONG LONG time...

No one's complaining. It's called reminiscing. Anyone who's a serious hoops fan can relate to what Springsteen said, and it has nothing to do with who's responsible for the state of the program.

You would have been popular during the Great Depression, running around telling people to stop reminiscing about food.

I bet there are a lot of folks on this board who aren't aware (probably not even born yet) that back in the day unless you had season tickets it used to be darned near impossible to get a ticket to CHA, especially during league play. You might be able to score one or two for out of conference opponents.

God, I miss those days ...

That's funny, I was actually thinking the same thing today! It's really fun to watch the good teams play. I really hope this program can get back on track, sooner rather then later.

We'll be going on 4 straight years without an NCAA berth. When you were used to going to the tourney every year, 4 years is a long, long time.

Agree. It is likely we will not see a NCAA spot until year at least year 5 or 6 of Lick, if he makes it that far.

let us not forget that for decades the Northwestern Wildcats had a permanent claim on the BT cellar, and then all of a sudden they started winning a few games here and there, and got some respect. Or football-I was a student at UW Madison in the early seventies, and one night they beat IA at home and there was a near riot, esp. if you drove down State St. with IA plates. My car was nearly destroyed, but we did survive. Hard to imagine a time when both programs were that far down, given what has happened more recently. Let's face it my friends, everything has its cycles.
