Watched ONIowa live....guys on there seemed to be optimistic about Northwestern Game

I guess they have some injuries to their cornerbacks. They made mention JVB might be able to come out of his funk a bit this game.

Also one of their playmakers (don't recall if they said their running back) who has had 10 plays for over 20 yards this season is questionable for this game.

They made mention under Fitzs Northwestern is 13-9 when leading going into the 4th quarter.

I'm thinking that one of these teams- Northwestern, Indiana, Michigan or Nebraska will put up 50 points on Iowa.

I like their optimism but did they also mention the key injuries to Hawk players or why they feel JV is suddenly going to break out of his funk? NW has lost two very close games that were very winnable against Penn St and Nebby. Nothing about this gives me that much optimism for the Hawks chances on Saturday.

Their tailback will play, but the corners are out. Northwestern has no depth on their defense and it shows when the fourth quarter comes around, provided you have a QB who can make a couple of plays and your line can push them off the ball. We will find out a lot about the Hawks this week. If we get down big and quit, pack it in boys, we won't be going to the Rose Parade, but if we get down 2 possessions and come back like Nebraska and Penn State did we will be among the elite in the conference.

It is tough to be optimistic about this game. However, I have seen Iowa get beat up before and then come back the next week like they are a completely different team. I do think KF is good at getting the kids to "flush" a bad loss and come back ready to play the next week. And, I think I have seen some evidence and heard reports in the media that Iowa rarely loses two games in a row. I will be there to cheer them on.

Jon and Hawkeye Game Film had a "feeling" that Vandenberg was going to get out of his slump and play well against Penn State too. I don't see where anyone could have seen anything that makes them think he is just all of the sudden going to play lights out. Teams will continue to put 9 in the box and play physical with our receivers (watching the replay, our receivers, particularly Davis, got manhandled and couldn't get off the line of scrimmage and into their routes).
