Cedar Rapids guard Wes Washpun commits to Iowa; Bison almost landed a good one there.

At least per tweet from a North Dakota State sports writer. I'm not sure if I'm convinced yet until someone around the Iowa program confirms. Jon, Stormin... can either of you confirm this?

I'm with you, I have my doubts that some Fargo reporter would be the first to report this.

That being said, it is possible that Wes is calling coaches that were recruiting him and letting them now, and that filtered to this chum.

It would appear by that with the offer, he will come here given the article and comments by Washpun in the Press Citizen.

That being said, no reason to stop with Washpun. Cartwright will be a senior next year. I'm sure the staff isn't sitting on their hands right now. I hope we can still land another PG this offseason.

That tweet was posted at 1:43 PM today so I'm guessing he was reporting the scholarship offer by Iowa and didn't clarify.

Not trying to sound overly negative, but after reading the article it sounds to me like his first choice is Tennessee (if offered, of course).

All of the people who don't want Washpun may not have to worry about it.

Here's a story from metrosportsreport:

Washpun meets with McCaffery, does not commit

Agreed. After reading the article I would say his choices are, in this order:

1) Tennessee
2) Missouri State
3) Iowa

He seems put off by the fact Iowa was so late in his recruitment. (And I guess I'm surprised Fran didn't have contact with him before now.) I don't think he's a Hawkeye.

I agree he is a tenn. lean but I also know that if he sits down and takes inventory of where he is and where his future will best serve him he will understand not to take personally the fact that he wasn't number one on Frans list. Thats just the way things happen. He will also realize that Tenn may have some NCAA issues in the near future brought on by Pearl. Playing in the big 10 is something that he will realize is a very good thing and its something he grew up watching. Olglesby is another positve, playing time is a factor, and closeness to home for family and friends will become bigger over the weekend. He is not a lock for Iowa but I don't think the other two are either. If we don't get him, we will be fine. The players Fran is going after are very talented and takes more time because of the competition from other schools but we will get out players.
