Was yesterday "the last straw" for you?

Can't give up. How does one do that if you bleed black and gold. Are you a bit light in the loafers???

Anyhow, most pleased I did not attend Kinnick this past Saturday. One of those days you'd rather be alone to watch the game. Little to gain and alot to lose in that game. Yes, situations sucks, is disgusting some of the play we see, but gotta keep supporting. I'll be tuning in Saturday and hope we see a surprise (the good kind). I won't be surprised to be surprised, but if it happens to get ugly, I'm going fishing, or doing chores or something that won't get me so worked up.

Remember, it's a bunch of kids playing football for a school you probably never attended. A post high school game.

This is probably for the best. People who are emotionally children prolly shouldnt watch football.

Funny...you chastise other posters as 'emotionally children' and then use the non-word, 'prolly' in you post. My 2 year old knows 'prolly' is not a word. Is it really that hard to write out p r o b a b l y ... it's only 2 more letters.

Is this d00d srs?

Give him a break, he's typing on his smart phone.

No. Its still the hawkeyes, even though I think the coaching staff is, oh nevermind. Ill be there at 6am Saturday tailgating just like last week.

The loss was ugly. No question about it. It kills me that every loss results in a "the sky is falling" kind of mentality. Fire Ferentz, get a new QB, blah, blah, blah. And when next week is a win, all will be forgotten and there will be talk of a B1G championship.

It isn't all or nothing. We are cheering for a mediocre football team this year. Deal with it. Will they improve? Probably. Will they let us down again? Probably. Will they surprise us with a good win? Probably. Will I(and many others) still be a Hawkeye fan through it all? You bet your butt we will!

Frankly, if the players dwell on the loss like some of the fans are, then we can expect a miserable game on Saturday. I hope they have more faith and determination than some of you.

Wow where have you been. What you said is false. Beating Minnesota is not going to make this better. This has been a long time coming. KF is just starting the get the hole he digging this program into deep enough for more people to see it.

I too already gave up.... I have a friend that can give me his season tickets to use most games, but I live on the western edge of iowa and it is an expensive endeavor to find the motel room, gas, plus you lose most of your weekend etc. just to see the boys play like this with this emotional level so down etc. Before my father died we had season tickets for years and we drove 5 hours one way each home game to watch Fry "scratch where it itches" and we loved it! Dad would go to the bowl games even though he couldn't afford it.... We buried him last month in his hawkeye clothes... so we too bleed black and gold but it is dwindling
Kirk is a good good man and I wish the college could put him in some pr job along with the university hospital, but I have wasted enough time watching this team too ( oh and I went to soldier field this year too, yeah for me!) you may now all attack me....

Your dad sounds like my dad. My dad started taking me to games at Kinnick when I was probably 4 years old. I'm 43 now, but I still keep his season tickets that he had since, well, before Commings. I've seen some horrible games and some great games over the years. I live in Wisconsin, and have seriously considered giving the tickets up, but going to the games has been a good way to remember my dad. I'm disappointed, but I give up much less easily than some.

Oh, we played the Iowa Fight Song at my dad's funeral. On a church organ, no less.

I'll persevere through this year, and the next. Next year will be a big decision for me.

If you let one loss (even an embarrassing loss) stop you from being an Iowa fan, then you were never an Iowa fan to begin with.

Takeaways from this thread: (1) Duff is wiser than all of you; and (2) even though Duff is wiser than all of you, he is still indignant when the predictable occurs (i.e., when fans become upset after a bad loss).

Im not indignant so much as I really enjoy pointing out the stupidity of others.

Not the last straw for me but i will be spending less on iowa football. We made the trip to Chicago and were in IC this past weekend. My first question is, how the heck did we beat UNI?? I really felt as though the D took a huge step backwards this weekend. I understand we are young, but to get pushed around by CM is horrible by any standard. I hear the coaches and other radio personnel talk about how our football team is improving and the two games that i have seen live, i just don't see any improvement at all. Accept Wiseman (SP?)

Where have you been? Minny is atop our division and undefeated. Beating Minny would be a great step going into bye week. We aren't 0-4 and we have beaten better teams than CMU this year.

Nice to see the hero-worshipping Kool-Aid drinkers finally come out of the woodwork, but where is it in the rules that only they get to be "true fans"? Some of us care very deeply about the program and the university, and that's why we don't like the ways things are going right now. Do we expect BCS bowls every year? No. But is it too much to ask a guy getting paid BCS money to do better than 7-5 seasons and losses to lowly teams? It's apparent that some of you think so, and trying to convince you otherwise is a fruitless effort.

Trying to convince us of what exactly? That we should quit watching the Hawks on TV, quit buying tickets to the games and quit buying Hawkeye themed merchandise because of the coaching? If I had the money and the opportunity, I would buy season tickets......even with the current trend. That's why Hayden Fry came here in the first place. Iowa had great fan support and enthusiasm in the face of a couple decades of crappy football. Being a true fan is making a commitment to stick by a team not just in the good times, but in the bad as well. That doesn't mean we have to be happy with everything, but what would you have us do?
