OK--If your initial reaction to the over-coverage of Tim Tebow is to hate on Tim Tebow and then you realize that the over-coverage of Tim Tebow is more a result of the media than of Tim Tebow, himself, you can make a conscious decision to override your initial reaction to hate on Tim Tebow because you understand that there is no logical reason to do so.

And when the millions of other Tebow haters who fall within the same reasoning I do become enlightened we can all gather around and bask in the warm glow of Tebow's light.

So you acknowledge that the over-coverage is not Tebow's fault, but want to hate on him as if it were.

OK, whatever floats your boat.

Why does it matter what my reasoning is? For all you know I may have met Tebow and thought he was an *******. I don't see why people have such a hissy-fit because Tebow is liked or not.

Actually I really want to know. Why do people care about the issue so much? Why do YOU care so much? What difference does it make in your life that Tebow is such a polarizing figure?

Whoa whoa whoa, big fella. You are the one that is all fired up. I couldn't care less what people think about Tim Tebow (hence why I told you to "hate away").

I just find it odd that someone would choose to indulge their reactive instincts even after acknowledging that there is no logical basis for such instincts and that such instincts, in fact, run counter to logical analysis.

Who says I don't also hate the media that puts these people up on pedestals? The same media that created the likes of Paris Hilton and the Kardashians are responsible for the fame/infamy that Tebow is experiencing.

I also dislike Tebow because of that damn commercial he is in. One of the lines he speaks states something to the fact that "people told me I would never play college ball" or something to that effect. Is he really trying to play the victim card for his college years? In 2006 he was the #1 rated QB out of high school and the 22nd best overall recruit nationally? Really Tim? Really?

I want to know why people care about the issue so much! This is an Iowa sports forum, and every week there is a new crop of threads crapping on the guy, a guy who isn't from Iowa, never played Iowa, and has no effect on most Iowa sports fans. Still, we get thread after thread after thread. Ever since BK got the hammer, the tone has been much more negative of the guy. I have no idea why. I don't follow sports media, but apparently there are a bunch of dudes strapped to chairs and forced to hear about Tebow, and that makes them angry?

Norwalk, you seemed to phrase the debate in black or white (if you don't hate on him, you "Bask in the warm glow of Tebow's Light." There is a third way here. There is the choice of not caring. Of course, I am not a Tebow fan at all, but my sympathies naturally lie against hating on guys.

Not to get political, but have you noticed this little thing called the "Occupy Movement?" America used to love winners, now it hates them. 9 out of 10 Tebow haters are Occupy Sympathizers.

Now it's all beginning to make sense. I blame the liberal media (or lame-stream media if you prefer) for all of the Tebow hate.

OK--You win. Your logic in hating Tim Tebow is flawless...

As stated above, hate away.

You were typing when I posted my above post but in reality for me, that commercial rubbed me the wrong way, and that, really more so than the media, drives my feelings toward him.

I agree with this. Tebow hasn't been the "underdog" a day in his life yet this is how he sells himself.

I guess he didn't win the Heisman twice, is that why he's the underdog?

Why do people hate on Denard Robinson? Why do people hate on Bret Bielema? Or Paul Rhoads? They didn't do anything to us personally. Yet threads get started all the time talking **** about them. It's sports people. Sports causes people to develop emotional opinions of others, just like politics.

With Rhodes and Bielema I think it's because they're d-bags.

I don't know about Robinson. His nickname maybe?

Well, we don't have 5 hate threads on them every week for one, and two, they actually directly compete against our favorite team, so we have an excuse for being adversarial to them, although personally, I agree with you, and I don't hate any of those guys.
