Put this video in another thread but decided to make it its own. This guy looks like someone who can be an impact player next year. Was originally committed to depaul but got out of his LOI when Purnell took over and went to Prep School. We are the only ones to have offered at this point due to his reclassification. Thoughts??????

From what I hear about this guy, these vids might not be completely representative. The press was that he can be a banger. Might be these vids are trying to show he can do more. I agree that Iowa needs a glass gleaning big more than one that is going to camp out at the 3 PT line.

However, having the ability to catch and shoot is not a bad thing. Also, he looks pretty fluid for a guy his size. A front line of Basabe, White, and Pitchford with Marble at one guard and some tough street PT who can just D like crazy could be a tough matchup for teams. They wouldn't be huge height wise, but they would be long and fluid.

Throw in a couple of traditional bigs you could develop like Woodbury, Katenda, Oliseny, and a couple of sharp shooters like Ogelsby and ? and a good combo guard and you have yourself a real B10 team.

Everything that I've read has echoed your comments, that he's good down low, offensively and defensively. I have heard that he tends to fall in love with the outside occasionally and that's probably his biggest weakness. But as you said, a big that's capable of going outside isn't a bad thing. I wouldn't worry about him spending too much time out there if Fran wanted him in the middle.

I like his wide shoulders...he can put more muscle on.
He has a very nice stroke on his jump shot...
As I heard Dan Dakich say on ESPN1000 today...it all comes down to making shots.
Dakich said everybody runs the same stuff, and in the end when he talks to the coaches, they all say the same thing...''we cant hit a shot'' or'' we made shots today''.
Iowa needs to have five guys on the floor who can actually make shots...like Melsahn. Pitchford alongside Mel would be a good start. Hopefully he is also a banger inside. I was pretty impressed with Walt...as was said, he looks fluid.

Also saw some footage of Woodbury from last nites game in Sioux City vs Gesell. Like what I see. He does not move like a 7'1''+ guy...put the ball on the floor, and he also has a good frame that could add muscle. Seemed bouncy along the lines of Meyers Leonard of Illini.
