Short Answer: No.

That just seems weird to me? Is is that hard to kick a football a long ways? I've never tried but, you know if you practice, wouldn't you get good at it? Isn't there a walk on soccer player that can help a real FB team out?

Arent they moving up where the kickoff starts next season or did that already start?

There is a proposed rule change to move kickoffs back to 35 yard line rather than 30. I dont think it has been passed yet. That will happen this Spring if I remember right.

Meyers can kick to end zone but not consistently. Other teams have same issue.
The key is not always how far you kick but the heighth on kickoff. Height allows coverage to get downfield. That is where Kaeding excelled as he had height on kick and receivers taking on 5-10 yard line were often lucky to get back to 20. Of course, Nate wasnt kicking from 30 yard line during his time at Iowa.
I am guessing that IOwa coaches put some emphasis on height as opposed to length. A line drive kickoff to end zone can just as easily be returned to 30-40 yard line.

I could have sworn that last year, Meyer was reaching the goal line early in the season, and suddenly switched to kicking shorter yet higher kicks.

Steven Ferentz would be considered a walk on? Like he's going to have to pay tuition? It's just a guy who isn't getting a scholarship, but also won't be paying a dime. Not a bad deal haha.

I think Dawson would have a good chance to contribute. He was a fairly decently recruited player back in the 2010 class. The only thing you have to worry about with him is he may have some rust since he really hasn't played full on since he graduated high school.

I think Dawson has a chance to be the starter, and Nelson should eventually contribute as well.

Riley McCarron is a great athlete. Small, but kid is quick and excels in multiple sports. I think he could surprise some people.
